    Every class has some utility aspects. SMN can instant-rez in combat, BLM has good CC -- just to name a couple.
    Most Bard songs come with a BIG dps sacrifice, and the one that doesnt is a debuff, akin to Virus or Disembowel.
    In THIS game, Bards are a DPS class. There are no pure Support classes in FFXIV.

    My point is Bard dps is fine. If they want to make them sacrifice a little more when they move, thats a different matter.

    Easy fix. Make Bard as it is now, Ranger, minus the songs. Reinstate Bard from 1.0 with associated tweeks to song cast times, versatility(take away the damage reduction, make Foe Requiem applicable to all party members), etc.

    How about the action damage trait working something like this:

    "For every second standing still Action Damage is increased by 1% up to a maximum of 20%. While moving you lose 2% of this damage every second."

    So basically it would be a buff that can have up to 20 stacks. Damage would ramp up the longer you stay still in a fight, and when you are forced to move the damage would drop off until you can re-establish your position. This can be further balanced as necessary by raising the increase and decrease amounts, e.g. +2%/sec stationary & -5%/sec moving

    It certainly makes sense that it would be harder to fire a bow while running around versus standing still. This would keep all the mechanics of the class the same, gameplay style the same, and impact our damage while moving but still let us do damage while moving.

    I still think it is unneccesary as the ONLY reason we can compete with other classes is because we can do damage on the move. And my fix does severely take away the effectiveness of kiting as you are always on the move. (could be fun to DOT, root, mob stand still a little, then start attacking again, but again this would be much slower going and not really kiting...)

    I wouldn't particularly mind a damage nerf, but it would be nice to have a wider variety of songs. I don't really feel much like a bard at the moment. (Also, some people already feel a little sad when they get bards as all their DPS in DF and cry about the lack of a dps limit break.)

    There is no place in the current game for a "true" support class (aka the old bard). Whit the current contents if they boost the songs they break the game.
    Thats why a nerf makes no sense.

    They're putting in PvP.
    Anyone who plays Bard knows they have to do SOMETHING before PvP comes out or every team will be nothing but Bards.
    They'll probably just add a cast time to Straight Shot/Heavy shot and be done with it.

    Hopefully at the same time they look at Bard scaling at endgame.

    Most likely it will be scholar heavy teams, not that bards won't be good, just not as good as scholars.

    More than likely you'll see a ton of BLM as dps with aoe sleep/slow/bind and summoner with ranged aoe mortal strike/40% movement slow.
