Terrifyingly enough, Guild Wars 2 doesn't have that problem. In fact, it's the opposite...ranged has the disadvantage, melee has the advantage.
Ok nerf Bard dps - because they are support. You are forgetting small parties (4 and 8) players. Bard is QUEUED as DPS. If you nerf their DPS, now the same people that complained about how much they did, will now claim they aren't carrying their weight. Hopefully not nerfing it much, 4 man party dungeons would completely SUCK if TWO bards get thrown together as SUPPORT (i mean DPS). You should look at Bard class as DPS class with SOME support options NOT as a support class that is able to do DPS - parties in FF14 are too small for a "support" position.
It worked in FF11 because parties were six people - 1 tank, 1 healer, 1 support, 3 dps worked pretty good (at least when I played it - may have changed now)
thats not true, boss mechanics determine that and most, if not all, MMOs have boss encounters that allow melees to completely ignore essential boss mechanics because they are... well... in melee
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Bards have their stationary dps increased to match the other dps and have their movement dps nerfed. This would actually be a quality of life improvement.
You could focus solely on moving during movement phases.
the nerf is legit
usually the party for binding coil is: 2 tank, 2 healer, 2/4 bard+maybe 1 blm/melee
what will happen in 2.1 with this mentality for the new raid? 2 tank, 4 healer, 18 bard????
bard isn't taken for the utility, but because they haven't animation skill delay like other class and they can dps in safe spot without take any damage
but them dps is hight then other class only because that 0 animation skill delay, they can't or not want fix the animation delay for the other class, so better nerf damage
this is not the better solution but it is legit at least
I'm confused here, what makes you think bards have no animation skill delay?the nerf is legit

The fact is, that BRDs can do high DPS and keep up with melee dps and avoid from getting hit. Also... if ur not top DPS on brd, then ur playing the whole job wrong, or u just suck
A perfect example of someone who has no idea the DPS differences and the capability all the other classes have. At this point I don't even care I've moved on and geared out my Summoner. Not only is it the top DPS class in the game currently by margins with a pet that pulls DPS equal to a Coil geared tank but I have just as much mobility aside from 2 dots that have to be cast while standing still. On top of that I get amazing utility, the ability to heal myself, and an AoE Limit Breaker.
