I don't think dungeons would help many people to actually get better @ certain jobs. I've done most of the story missions as CNJ/WHM and let me say, i didn't even finish the story from the horror stories i had to live through. I just actually finished "The Stone Vigil" today. And luckily we got a good tank in duty finder. He kept aggro and when he lost it he was quick to get it back. But this was one tank out of many i did dungeons with that was good @ his job. I didn't even have to tank on WHM for the dungeon!

Usually i'll ask the tank to flash more when i get enmity built up. Not sure why they made WHM spells have so much enmity. The way SE designed tanking classes in this game makes them a sponge for heal bombing. This is exactly the reason "Blink tanking" was created in FFXI so many years ago. Anyone fight Byakko before blink tanking was big? It's a nightmare for healers. A tank should not be killed in 3-4 hits, the term "tank" is suppose to mean something.

So far i've mostly been concentrating on leveling my Glad. So it's been alot of solo questing in a "tanking" sense.

I'll tell ya one thing. Running nothing but Duty Finder to get your dungeons done so you can move along in the story line really does help you learn to tank better.

I still have a hard time once in awhile, but I'm learning quickly. I was actually forced to search a suggested tank rotation for glad and started playing around with it. ALOT OF TABBING lol. It's a hell of alot of fun.

But I do agree with OP here. Esp dps. I get people in groups that really don't have a clue they are dps that is what they do, But when your tank switches targets. Finish killing the original target. Thats is what you are there for. DPS = Kill Shit!

It's all about the willingness to learn and listen. All players are capable if they can do that, new or bad.

I have relic +1 geared BLMs do that to me all the time to me in AK. Some people just don't care. Fates could be removed tomorrow and it won't change that much.

    FATE grinding might be faster.
But still did naught but Dungeons from 15 - 50 on my Warrior.
I made damned sure i knew what the hell i was doing by the time i was 50.

And crap XP from dungeons? Uhhh .... up to Haukke Manor, i was getting 500 - 1k per trash mob kill, and from Stone Vigil and up i was getting 1.5k per kill of each individual trash mob, 8 - 11k per boss, then another 10 - 12k from the newbie bonus, And 400+ gil from that same bonus.

All that for 35 - 45 minutes of cruising through a dungeon chatting to random players about random things, meeting new people on every run.

How in the hells could that kind of XP be considered *bad*?!

I tried leveling with dungeons once. Then I got bored, did fates, and realized I leveled about 4 times faster with fates. Bye dungeons!

It's not that the xp is bad but lets face it...FATE xp is rediculous. When grinding fates at low-mid levels I can gain a level every 20-30 minutes. At end levels 40-50, that time frame increase a bit but still can get a level in about 45-70 minutes depending on the fate. Before they nerfed experience from DD (a big xp fate) you could get approximately 350-400k from one fate in approximately 20-30m. If I can get xp that fast then why would I even want to run a dungeon where I might gain 1/2 a level from a single dungeon which takes approximately 45m at the low end of jobs?

It's all about the rush to end game. People want to get to the end game as quickly as possible so they can get new shiny loots and complain about having nothing to do.

I think the best solution to this would be to increase dungeon xp to be on par with fates, and place a cap on the number of people that can join a single fate event at a given time.

They nerfed Dark Devices, what makes you think they won't do it again to other FATEs?

Personally, I think FATEs need to change, the mindless zerging without any thought of taking down the mob is just kinda boring + the absurd amount of EXP you get per FATE pushes me away personally ( I hate the idea of leveling abnormally fast), so I do Dungeons/hunting log and leves for the time being.

Well thats where its warped logic, first off dungeon isnt bad exp. Its just enough and in the waiting time for queue you can shout for more members, while doing fates and hunting log or maybe gathering or crafting.
There is so much you can do while queued in.
