Lol. Even if these players ran the instances or dungeons, they will still suck at their class. 80% of gamers have no common sense. Hell, 80% of the people on this planet has no common sense.

I did this on my WHM but only because being a healer there's like no queue. Leveling SMN now and I'm level 43, never got into a dungeon yet. Waits up to half an hour when I could just go level. I agree though, it is a lot better to do dungeons, but I can see why people would be put off since the wait times are ridiculous.

I've just decided that when I hit 50, I'll just go run dungeons before I start farming stuff for end game. Sadly, a lot of people will just go straight onto end game stuff...

Between the extended queue times and the lack of good XP in dungeons (after the first time you go in, the XP is pretty lackluster), I don't blame anyone - DPS, Tanks, or Healers - for grinding Fates. It's just less painful.

It doesn't matter how long it takes to lvl cap or how much it makes somebody "learn" their class along the way.

A good player can pick up and learn a 50 no matter how fast it got there or by what means. A bad player will still be bad regardless.

As soon as Squeenix make Dungeons viable for levelling, I'll get right on it!

you dont have to play a particular dungeon multiple times unless you need loot

1 time enough to exp your job

FATEs can wait 50 mins is not much

And while Fates are the best way to level, you are still looking at 30+ per level and 1500 fates per class to 50 cap. I'm sure Fate grinders know they won't be solo farming Svara so it isn't so much that they don't know the regiment. They just aren't used to the process. For end gamers it's better if more people get there. Due to synch it's not like you can't drop back and do lower stuff.

That and who wants to wait for a DF when there are fates?

Doing dungeons will not help you learn to play your class anymore than doing fates will.

It's all about having a good sense of mmorpgs. So far, I've leveled 4 classes to 50, 2 of which I've leveled prely through fates. I have had no problems playing either of the 4 classes, though I'm aware that I suck horribly (at least, that's what I feel) on one of them dps wise (and that was the first class I got to 50, which I took through dungeons).

Obviously, as someone who's played several other mmorpgs, ever since FFXI. There are certain aspects common to MMORPGs that I already know and apply to the way I play FFXIV: ARR. And having played all types of roles throughout my MMORPG career (and 2 of the 3 roles in FFXIV: ARR). The basics of grouping isn't a difficult concept for me to grasp. In fact, I don't know why it's so difficult for some people to grasp, unless they're completely new to mmorpgs and games, and then they should be humble enough to realize they need to ask for help to learn.

That is NOT true for tanks. A tank very seldom need to do anything in Fates to protect others. If he is solo (poor sod) not, and if he is in a party chances are high that there are 3-4 Marauders of 8 people.
Tanking can only be learned by going with a group that trusts you in keeping them out of harms way.
For healers I am not sure, if they stick to healing also in Fates, it doesn't matter. (Maybe even teaches them to heal raids for future stuff)
The only thing DDs learn in dungeons, not to overextend. Well what they SHOULD learn I mean.
