Agreed, fates are terrible learning places for healers and tanks (Medica spam, anyone?)That is NOT true for tanks. A tank very seldom need to do anything in Fates to protect others. If he is solo (poor sod) not, and if he is in a party chances are high that there are 3-4 Marauders of 8 people.
Tanking can only be learned by going with a group that trusts you in keeping them out of harms way.
The only thing DDs learn in dungeons, not to overextend. Well what they SHOULD learn I mean.
I'm usually that tank that keeps the adds off the healers in boss fates, unless of course there's some trigger happy bard training to be an athlete tanking the boss, then I'll try and grab that instead.
Kiting a boss (I'm looking at you, Bards) is very VERY irritating for any melee classes, if you can't tank it, don't take it.
Sorry master, I shall play the game as per your direct will.was running brayflox longstop but as a PLD now
and come to BLM who strike everything before i aggro mobs or anything
i told him lemme build aggro then attack after
he said sorry its my first dungeon as BLM
and what the hell you have been doing to hit lv32?
spamming FATES only?
you have ignored 6 dungeons before brayflox which capable enough to exp your job
rather than being burden for me and the healer
This wouldn't be that bad if tanks can attack on the move better.
While I do think dungeons need to be more rewarding exp wise to keep ground with fates, another possibility that square could do is a New Game + type feature for all the non story quests players have completed (or even put the story quests in there too) and just make it so they don't give Gil, just exp. Least then you would have the same amount of options to level up more classes as you did for your first.
Also, the "extended queue times" are due to everyone doing FATEs, and not doing dungeons. Cant fill a dungeon queue if Tank and Healer classes are all spamming FATEs, so it's going to take longer.
I fated my war and pld to 50 and I tank BCB. I ran the story dungeons and that was about it. To this day I haven't run sunken template, or aurum vale.
After raising a couple classes to 50 on primarily FATEs, *my* first instinct is to say nerf FATEs, too. Dungeon exp feels about right. It's only the downtime in queue that kills it as "viable" and sets up the FATE system to dominate where it really shouldn't.
I think the problem with that is at higher lvls all dungeons are "speed runs" and you need super pwnLOLcatLVL9999l33t gear only, no newbs expericenced only, relic weapon. There is no going thru the dungeon and experimenting/learning the mechanics at higher lvls. (Also apprantely you also need a good, name. Ive seen a shout for a run where , they said dont bother joining
their group if your char has a name from anime becuase "It tells me alot about you". Yeah it does, it tells me you like anime...but thats whole different rant).
I can relate. Got into stone vigil with my whm and saw a pld tank taking way too much dmg then I notice he was in sword oath. He then cuss' me for not keeping him alive and I told him to use shield oath instead of sword oath. He said he didn't have it.
