Unfortunately it's very true. I too have had players at 30 or 40 in a dungeon with me confide this will be their "first dungeon as that class". And many more who don't speak but behave in ways more consistent with fighting in a FATE than a dungeon (Trying to rush in an tag mobs first, kiting enemies around the room trying solo them etc).

Personally I try and do each dungeon as I level up on my new class at least once to ensure i have a good overview and develop proper rotations and tactics for dungeon fighting; but I don't exactly represent the norm either since I employ team tactics in FATEs (ie covering the healer and AoE monkey so they can tag mobs/keep the dps alive and making kills/ keep the boss still so dps can flank it etc etc)

SE needs to make dungeons more attractive for leveling than fates. You can get way more exp from fates than you can from dungeons so why wouldn't ppl grind fates. SE don't nerf the fates, increase dungeon exp. I know how devs are; their first instinct is to nerf.

After raising a couple classes to 50 on primarily FATEs, *my* first instinct is to say nerf FATEs, too. Dungeon exp feels about right. It's only the downtime in queue that kills it as "viable" and sets up the FATE system to dominate where it really shouldn't.

Honestly the passive aggressive complaining in these forums!

Simple answer: some people are slower/do things backwards, so when you run into them just be nice, give advice, and move on.

People who laze their way to a high level and don't know their class shouldn't be shown sympathy. It's not like someone doing HM Primals the first time and are unaware; that's understandable. These people purposely skipped any and all dungeons to advance through the game at a fast rate.

To those that complain about long que times: There is absolutely 0 need to party for fates from level 1-30. Even on one of the most populated servers (ultros) where I was before transfer, only higher level fates were spammed to completion in 1-2 minutes. There's nothing stopping you from queing for a dungeon, then going to fate by yourself.

//rant for tanks who don't know how to mark targets or keep hate at level 50

It's all about the willingness to learn and listen. All players are capable if they can do that, new or bad.

I have relic +1 geared BLMs do that to me all the time to me in AK. Some people just don't care. Fates could be removed tomorrow and it won't change that much.

    FATE grinding might be faster.
But still did naught but Dungeons from 15 - 50 on my Warrior.
I made damned sure i knew what the hell i was doing by the time i was 50.

And crap XP from dungeons? Uhhh .... up to Haukke Manor, i was getting 500 - 1k per trash mob kill, and from Stone Vigil and up i was getting 1.5k per kill of each individual trash mob, 8 - 11k per boss, then another 10 - 12k from the newbie bonus, And 400+ gil from that same bonus.

All that for 35 - 45 minutes of cruising through a dungeon chatting to random players about random things, meeting new people on every run.

How in the hells could that kind of XP be considered *bad*?!

It's not that the xp is bad but lets face it...FATE xp is rediculous. When grinding fates at low-mid levels I can gain a level every 20-30 minutes. At end levels 40-50, that time frame increase a bit but still can get a level in about 45-70 minutes depending on the fate. Before they nerfed experience from DD (a big xp fate) you could get approximately 350-400k from one fate in approximately 20-30m. If I can get xp that fast then why would I even want to run a dungeon where I might gain 1/2 a level from a single dungeon which takes approximately 45m at the low end of jobs?

It's all about the rush to end game. People want to get to the end game as quickly as possible so they can get new shiny loots and complain about having nothing to do.

I think the best solution to this would be to increase dungeon xp to be on par with fates, and place a cap on the number of people that can join a single fate event at a given time.

I tried leveling with dungeons once. Then I got bored, did fates, and realized I leveled about 4 times faster with fates. Bye dungeons!
