I don't understand this. Dungeons are absolutely viable for leveling, they just aren't as fast as Fates due to Duty Finder queues so comments like these are made. The xp drops for each mob in a dungeon are normally 3x-4x anything you get in the overworld. Since hardly anyone ever repeats low level dungeons, if you DF in you are almost guaranteed to have someone there for the first time which is another nice xp boost. Most dungeons, while not difficult, still do make you act as a team to prepare you for things to come, instead of mindlessly spamming AOEs.
I don't see healers keeping everyone healed in fates. I don't see tanks tabbing through snippers or qi'qirn's in Costa Del Sol to keep all hate. I see 8 classes of DPS just spamming...
While I partially agree with this, SE didn't help the situation any by making fates faster than dungeons. It promotes skipping them, which in turn will push players who could potentially be good, into mindless drones that won't even want to dungeon. They will be in for a rude surprise when they are forced to in end game, and get booted from parties for not knowing basic mechanics they could have learned by completing previous dungeons, and then come to these forums and QQ about there being nothing to do and leave the game.
Back to the initial argument: I understand about the long wait times for the DF. Trust me, I do. But that doesn't mean players have to skip dungeons altogether. You can always queue into a dungeon and Fate farm while your waiting. Hell, you have to most of the time to hit your next level to progress story-line anyway. And honestly, if you took away the queue times from dungeons (said: find people, meet them, get a static group. this is an MMO stop being so damn anti-social!) Fate's are not faster than dungeons at all unless you skip between areas. For the most part, Fate's spawn on timed loops. You usually won't do the same Fate until about 30-60 minutes have passed, depending on the fate. Even if you do all the Fates for your level cap in any given area, that's still only about 4-5 tops until you hit lvl 45, that isn't as much xp as you get for a dungeon of your level cap.
You just pretty much explained to yourself why no one wants to do Dungeons to level... Its not because DF at all, its because the exp is simply not as fast as FATE's. I would seriously prefer if Dungeons were more viable, but they're simply not.
Well since we are pointing out what was said, you used the word viable...
adjective
1. capable of working successfully; feasible.
"the proposed investment was economically viable"
synonyms: feasible, workable, practicable, practical, usable, possible, realistic, achievable, attainable, realizable; More
Dungeons ARE absolutely viable. If you were looking for a different word to describe what you meant, that isn't my fault. That is exactly why I didn't understand your post, and also why I proceeded to profess that FATE's were a little faster and why. So I didn't explain anything to myself, I explained it to you. This will be the last English lesson I give.
I'm the Bloodgaru Queen.
This x100.
I guarantee that if the OP and any player who has ever played an MMO started at 1 and raced to 50, where the OP does FATES/Dungeons, and the random guy does pure FATES. You'd end up with 2 people who understand their roles by the end, with the only difference being, the OP is level 50, and the other guy is wearing full DL with their myth capped twice.
@OP: Friendly tip: If you meet another player who is doing it wrong, instead of preaching against FATEs and calling the poor guy a burden. Maybe throw out a few pieces advice to help him figure it out what he should be doing. I assure you that will go further than him backpedaling though a few dungeons after being insulted.

As soon as Squeenix make Dungeons viable for levelling, I'll get right on it!
I couldn't agree more with the OP. It's irritating seeing PLDs who don't flash, DRGs who don't combo, and fellow BRDs who start blasting mobs and peeling hate off tanks.
Happens even in coils.
