[Question] Player-run event support?

Hi community managers and/or devs! Several months back in an interview (before the Great Regime Change), there was mention that if players in Eorzea wanted to run events with GM support, with things like temporary props and whatnot, they should use the same form that is used for player-run events in Vana'diel.

I tried this route, but found there is no option to select FFXIV for the event, and when I submitted a trouble ticket I was given the canned response that they couldn't give me hints or tips for how to play the game.

Some of us in my linkshell have a couple of in-character weddings coming up, and we were wondering what the status is on player-run event support. Is it possible for us to get things like flowers, party favors, and (even temporary!) fancy clothes? If not, is this in the works?

Honestly, and I don't wish to pee on your parade here, but there are far more important things to get fixed up first before they even consider frivolous RP based extras such as these. I know it sucks to hear it, but RP requirements are very low on the priority chain of any MMo.

I appreciate your opinion Vahzl, but I'm not making any requests that they side-line their current projects, I'm simply asking for official feedback on what has already been stated in interviews by representatives of Square-Enix. Thanks for your reply though!

It's very hard to post a negative opinion on this kind of thing without sounding like an RP hater. It was just me trying to be realistic, as the game has alot of problems that are more of a forefront than RP related japery.

It would be lovely for them to implement the features, but I honestly wouldn't expect them at any point in the forseeable future. Hopefully a dev will give you the response you need though. Good luck!

Vahzl sort of has a point.. but also sort of doesn't.

While it's certainly true that RP-supporting additions to the game are hardly a priority right now, GM support in player-run events is a different thing entirely, and has zero need to involve roleplay, for that matter (though obviously I'd find it more fun if it did). The GMs have already displayed a willingness to engage in off-system events to an extent - the GMs in the camps and all - and the suggestion here really is pretty similar.

This would require - if my understanding of the game is correct - little to no input from the developers. Support from a GM for player events would simply mean having someone on hand with console access, able to teleport griefers away from the event, drop dummy items into people's inventories, and perhaps summon the odd monster or two .. or even just participate a little, contribute elements that could be considered 'official lore'. Or, heck, reward unique (albeit likely of little utility) items as prizes and loot.

Now, assuming FF XIV operates like most MMO's, where GMs can spawn objects and entities relatively easily, I cannot imagine how this would take away development resources .. except perhaps in adding a field to the web forms or so.

'Could even do as CCP once did and get community volunteers in to do this sort of thing, as they did with EVE Online.

Certainly, I'd like to hear official answer to the OP's question and all.
