The Golden Bazaar: no longer a weaving hamlet?

So as the title says, the Golden Bazaar no longer seems to have anything to do with weaving. I've talked to all the NPCs and done all the quests, but I haven't discovered why that is. My attention span is terrible, though, so I may have missed something.

The closest thing I've been able to guess, going by some vague NPC dialogue, is that after the calamity their wares were no longer in high demand and so they tried to make money by claiming that the "gold" in their name meant that they had hidden gold deposits nearby. They then became a regular small town, with a focus on mining that's been gradually diminishing as people realize there's no gold to be found.

Or was it just a retcon?

Was it big on weaving before? I don't remember... I know a WVR quest took place there in 1.0, but I figured it was incidental. What I do know is that, in 1.0, both the Golden and Silver Bazaars were plagued with Ala Mhigan refugees and commoners and it was difficult to sell much there because nobody could afford it. In 2.0, a deposit of mythril has been found near the Golden Bazaar, so they're trying to capitalize on that by reviving the markets there to serve the needs of a soon-to-be influx of miners.

Thanks for the info--I didn't remember the Ala Mhigan refugees in the Golden Bazaar in 1.0, but I didn't get far in the questline.

I do remember that the only personality the Golden Bazaar had at the beginning of 1.0 was that Sunsilk Tapestries had a presence there. The NPCs talked about it a bit, and it seemed to be their main source of income. But that's about all I remember.
