Wanderer's Palace and Qarn and why you should be running them in DF

    Because edumacation.

Qarn is one of, if not the most skill and positioning sensitive dungeons in the game. If you can master Qarn, many of the issues encountered in the harder endgame content can go away for you.

Wanderer's Palace is the quintessential "My First Endgame" dungeon. It can be beaten by a team in all AF / AH gear without much issue if they all work together as they're supposed to.

Running these dungeons in DF is a perfect way for the veterans and higher end players to teach the newer faces and first timers the tricks and gear they will need for later places like Coil. The key to doing that successfully is to be nice to people. We're all familiar with the defensiveness that pops up so quickly when people start getting called on mistakes or bad gear choices. It leads almost inevitably to ragequitters and arguments. But what I've found is that if you treat the other player not like a stranger, but like a friend, and you talk to them like a friend, make suggestions, and explain why the suggestion is better than what they're doing, that the overwhelming majority of even bad players will listen.

My FC has started making it a point to no non-speed WP runs nightly, going in teams of two through the DF, specifically to help other players master the dungeon and improve their skills and gear. Plus we get swag out of the deal ourselves and have a good time killing Tonberry King.

The only way to make the community better is to roll up your sleeves and work to help others improve themselves. That's not accomplished by ranting on the forums about how terrible they are. A few will always be beyond hope ("Weed Fourtwenty the Bikini-only BLM" is probably not going to be taking your advice no matter how nicely you present it) but the vast majority of weaker players can come up to par with a bit of kindness and patient effort on the parts of higher levels.

I've been running Sastashi and Toto-Rak solo for weeks now for no purpose whatsoever other than to teach new players all the stuff not in the manual. Even by the ends of the run the performance improvement have ranged from noticeable to outright amazing. When some of these guys get to endgame, they'll pay it forward and the community will continue to improve.

Want FFXIV to be a better place for everyone? Go out and work for it.

Couldn't agree more with you! The community only gets as good as the players make it.

I love doing this. Plus, it helps me to learn my alts better, something that doesn't really happen FATE grinding

If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die... I must simply laugh

it feels good when you teach a new tank or whoever how to run AK (or wherever) and the person actually listens and does well and you win flawlessly. Its like, "cool I made that happen."

This is the same notion that has everyone running around looking like clones. Not everyone needs to be on par with one another, there's going to be horrible, and there's going to be great players, and everything in between. Good players will figure out how to get better without you holding their hand.

Lastly, nobody running endgame with an FC relies on the community to advance.

This is the reason I decided to tank dungeons from lvl 15 all the way to 50 exclusively in dungeons. It took barely 14 days of casual playing to get both my Paladin and Warrior to lvl 47 thus far. I absolutely adore teaching rookies how to work together and complete dungeons flawlessly!

You get alot of satisfaction from teaching other players and clearing dungeons. That's why i ran every dungeon since halatali while leveling my warrior. Only missed brayflox. At 40 now, will do stone vigil soon, then darkhold.

Even though i primarily level via fate grinding, I go back and do all dungeons with the class so I can ensure I understand the mechanics from that class PoV so when I try to help others it's not "yeah, use this (I think...)" There are those who suck who do it intentionally to "troll" or whatnot, but a lot of players just don't have the natural aptitude or years of experience to figure it out on their own. I repeatedly queue for Garuda storymode as a tank because 1) hard to find and 2) it's rather easy tanking her (in my opinion) which lets me focus on what the team is doing so I can better see what is going on when we wipe for improvements. An ounce of kindness prevents a pound of headache. I have never encountered a situation where being a depreciating **** got ANYTHING done, so don't see why others continually do it. Treat others as you wish to be treated.

I will be starting hard mode ifrit soon and while have watched the video and memorized the pattern, actually doing it will prove different and look forward to learning and growing with the "end game" scene.
