After reading what I can and watching whatever is available I second this method. The Living Scourge.
I would like to see what happens if at least one of the three Scourges is not killed at the start.
Seeing how they are typically knocked out at the beginning seems a little too convenient for the hardest boss in the game. This is in an environment where previous turns of the coil have had rather important responsibilities for a second tank. (Pass-the-parcel on ADS and separation-management on Cadeceus.)
It is also not unheard-of for lesser mobs to interact with a boss. Examples are Cadeceus' slugs, Suparna & Chirada, and the Tonberry King's rancorous army. Twintania's Scourges may follow this trend. It may be that the Twisters will target the Scourge if one is still alive (or even Conflagration for that matter). Or perhaps one less Twister spawns for each Scourge alive.

Probably tried....but keeping an add alive until phase change viable?
Would also like point out that no one looks up...ever. I would say its a safe bet there has not been a single person who has looked straight up in that fight.

Interesting idea, but what do you expect to see there? Tornadoes closing in? Or some sort of pattern to know where the safe spots are?
I'm usually not that lucky with RNG, but at the risk of going off topic, maybe it shows you getting hit for your HP until you pass a certain threshold of defense stat, and starts showing the real damage once you can actually survive it.
Or am I confusing it with the primals' 2hr when you fail to kill nails/heart/protect the pillars? Either way, it doesn't seem to be the same mechanic as the twisters.

Didnt see you read or mention my looking up at the sky idea. No one plays in first person. Especially not Raiders

Looks like I missed it on the edit. Adding.

I am going to throw this idea out there even though it doesn't sound possible however I am unable to test it since I am not high enough level for this so just give me some thoughts. I looked up some items worth looking into one was a "Deaspected Crystal". It doesn't really say what it's used for (besides buying a Peregrine Helm) nor if it's usable. The reason I will assume its this item is because the game is really based around crystals (or at least I think) but, anyways here is my idea. Bare with me it's far fetched
Get a stack of them X99 should do. Now when the twister hits hopefully (not saying it will) the crystal will absorb most if not all the elemental damage to make healing manageable. It's cast time is every minute so it shouldn't be too bad to heal through but, I could be wrong. If it doesn't work I tried.

That is an item from 1.0 only and is no longer obtainable, same with half the items listed on the market boards that have never been listed. They would not make a boss that requires something like that when unless you were on a legacy server no one would ever kill it.

What Pellegri said but this does remind me of a 1.0 mechanic. In the Nael Deus Darnus (Hard) fight in 1.0, you had to craft Deaspected Clusters into Lunar Curtains in order to survive Mega Flare. Is it possible that there's some unique consumable that's being missed? Maybe it drops from mobs in turn 3? I don't see any good candidates in xivdb but maybe it wasn't parsed from the DATs properly?
A lot of these suggestions are ridiculous. I feel like most of the people in this thread haven't even experienced Twisters.
There's no indicator that a Twister is going to one shot you. It's not like this ability is always a one shot, it's only a one shot 50% of the time. What Pellegri said but this does remind me of a 1.0 mechanic.
