ARR Causing Computer to Shutdown, anyone else?

I have played other games to make sure it was not my PC/Tower having issues. but ARR has been constanly causing my system to crash/system to shut down. was wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and if there is any sort of work around/fix. ty

Although it's not necessarily the case here, generally the computer just turning off means it's overheating. FF XIV is pretty resource intensive so your CPU and GPU would certainly be generating a lot more heat than a lot of other games might. You could try installing something like Core Temp or SpeedFan to see/monitor your processor temperatures.

    ARR shutdown

You are NOT ALONE. This happened to me last night, thought I overheated, so I turned down the settings. It happened again to me today in a cut scene, leaving it off, I opened my box, sprayed it with canned air (there was hardly any dust, as I keep my rig clean) so I turned my pc back on, turned on my temperature monitor and went back to the cut scene, and It happened AGAIN, at the same time on the same cut scene (returning to the waking sands after defeating Titan) and the highest temperature I saw literally a second or two before it shutdown was 78 degrees Celsius (which isn't that high for what I'm running) on my #1 GTX 580 (I run 2 Nvidia GTX twin frozor 580s). My CPU never really goes above 55 degrees Celcius

This wasn't happening before the latest patch.... That's the only thing I can confirm. Other than that, my PC runs completely fine. There is something going on here, and I don't think it's our machines.

Just for a heads up, my specs are:
    Intel i7 960 3.2ghz
    20 GB of Ram
Win 7 64 bit home edition
Nvidia Twin Frozor GTX 580 x2 in SLI running two monitors
Running the OS and the game off of SATA 3 SSD's

Since the patch is recent, I have a strange feeling we will start seeing more people have this issue as the weekend goes on.

*edit* One thing I should note is I have never had any heavy FPS issues, the game suddenly closing, or anything until the first shutdown I said above from last night.
*edit2* Happened again. I can't play this game if it's going to break my computer. I guess I'll have to play something else.
*edit3* Also, nothing else I have GFX intensive-wise causes my PC to shutdown.

Its still going to be hardware related, a user mode application cannot cause a computer to power down in this way.

Even if it never happened before, and nothing else replicates the issue? I mean if it was hardware, it would be happening with other programs under the same stress conditions.

You're assuming that the game applies the same manner of stress as can be replicated in other applications, this is not correct.

This title is actually multithreaded (up to 4 cores) and puts more load onto the motherboard and cpu then many other recent AAA titles while also putting a heavy load onto the graphics card.

To replicate the same loading, you would need to do something like running Luxmark on the GPU and CPU at the same time, or another test that puts a great deal of loading on the memory and cpu, whilst the gpu is heavily in use.

Given you use a x58/1366 platform, have you checked that the IOH is not overheating?, this is actually common with x58 boards as many have pitiful cooling implementations for this chip, this chip can get up to 100c+ if the airflow or contact is bad. This particular chip does have a non-controllable OHP power-off implemented which is trigged around the 105c mark.

Similiarly, have you also made sure the ICH and IOH voltages are sufficient for the amount of usb or sata devices installed, you don't mention a mainboard, so i have to advise you that some vendors specified 1.05v which is below the intel spec of 1.1v(and even 1.1v is insufficient in a great deal of cases).
