are garbage compared to the ones in FFXI. so far the only slightly interesting ones ive done have been the cnj and sch ones. and with scholar it was mainly because of the last one.

Well you are dumb. The Lancer/Dragoon quest chain was great. I wish they were more than ever 5 levels though.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
Take off those rose tinted glasses, FFXI job quests weren't all that great and I loved me some FFXI.

The weaver questline was the most adorable quest I did in this game ( ;∀;)
the class/job quests are mostly self contained stories on par with bleach fillers. the ffxi job quest were intertwined with the games lore and gave important backstory.
I really enjoyed the Blacksmith and Gladiator class quests. They were amusing as hell.
I agree with this - the trouble with the class quests in ARR is indeed they didn't feel like they connected too much with the game's setting and lore, compared to the 1.0 class quests.
Case in point: in 1.0 the GLA class quests had the player actually fighting against NPC challengers in the Colosseum in Ul'dah, as well as showing the contempt between Ul'dah and the Ala Mhigan refugee community - in ARR however it tried to paint GLAs as an ad hoc police force and had the player chasing around some supposedly legendary fighter from the past (who of course had unresolved sexual tension with the Guildmistress) and his shady dealings with a criminal gang. Boooring.
And the 1.0 class quests actually had the player use the Echo to uncover hidden information that drove the quests forward. There was no such use of it here. The Echo is a fundamental part of FFXIV's storyline, why remove it from the class quests?
The Job quests on the other hand, are pretty much the same as they were in 1.0, with some slight variations to compensate for the changed setting. But they're basically the same. Unfortunately it seems that the class quests were more for show and to help instruct the player in the actual use of that class rather than provide a relevant connection to the game's storyline, to it's detriment. And especially so when compared with 1.0's class quests.

Blacksmith and Warrior quests rocked my socks in XIV. Unlocking Samurai in XI made me want to hammer nails through my eyes.
Your argument is invalid.
Because even in the main quests, the echo is anecdotal. :sThe Echo is a fundamental part of FFXIV's storyline, why remove it from the class quests?
Only v1 players know it's supposed to be fundamental.
