Binding Coil Entry Allowances Clarification Request

I'm a little unclear on how the Binding Coil works, so I thought I'd try to post my understanding here to see if it can be corrected:

    1. You may enter the Binding Coil and spam it as much as you want each week until you receive a treasure that week. After receiving a treasure, you may not enter at all by any mechanism until the following Monday.

    2. If you have access to the Binding Coil, you may enter at any Turn of the Coil, provided that the party leader currently is "at" it.

    3. You personally progress through the Coil by clearing each Turn in progression.

    4. Each Monday, all players return to having only Turn 1 access.

Follow-up Question: If I start by doing Turn 2 with someone (i.e., as my very first Coil experience, because the party leader was already on Turn 2) and we won, would I subsequently be on Turn 3, or would I be on Turn 1?

The system seems very strange, so I am assuming that I have misunderstood something.

Thank you in advance for any helpful clarification.

When you enter the Binding Coil, you enter the Turn that the party leader is saved to.

Once you clear a Turn, you're saved to the next Turn. (If you clear Turn 1, you're saved to Turn 2 immediately.)

Likewise, once you enter a Turn, you are saved to that Turn. (If you enter Turn 2, you're saved to Turn 2 immediately.)

You may not enter an earlier Turn than the one you're saved to. (If you're saved to Turn 2, even if you never did Turn 1 that week, you cannot enter Turn 1.)

The way to think about this is that each week, there's no going backwards, and there's no gaming the system. Clearing the Turns in order is your best bet, since if you clear Turn 2 or 4 first, you can't go back and redo earlier Turns that week.

In your example, you would be saved to Turn 3. You would still be eligible to clear Turn 3 and 4 that week.

I see. So it is advantageous for the player to clear the lowest-numbered turn, since that turn will be easiest and most likely to lead to items and such. You can jump ahead to a higher-numbered Turn, but you would only do this to join friends who are farther ahead, since they can't join you on Turn 1 if they've finished it.

What's the deal with the "one treasure per week" rule? If you get a treasure on Turn 1, does that mean you can't enter again until Monday of the next week, whereupon you are reset to Turn 1, anyway? Is it that the "one treasure per week" thing I heard is actually totally mistaken and made-up (i.e., except that the purpose of not being able to repeat Turn 1 is probably so that you can't spam-get treasures).

You earn "treasure" from the final boss of each Turn.

    Turns 1, 2, 4, & 5 have bosses = treasure.

If you start on Turn 1 and clear each floor, you have the opportunity to earn 4 treasures. (Technically 8 as the boss drops 2 treasure chests)

However, if you join a group that is working on Turn 4 and you win, you cannot go back and do Turns 1-3 until the next Monday when they reset.

Turn 1 has 1 Boss - Caduceus, who drops 2 Treasure chests which have a total of 18 possible items (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ut-Loot-Tables).

"1 treasure per week" might be some coil group's way of doing things but its not ours. For example, Allagan Robes and Gloves of Casting both dropped from Turn 2. I have the Mythology-purchased Summoner's Doublet and getting the Ringbands (gloves) this coming monday, so I said I would be passing on both - the black mage took both.

It really only depends how you do it with your own group, there's no limit. If all 6 treasure chests (Turn 1, Turn 2, Turn 4) drop stuff for a Bard and you only have one BRD then he gets them all - or pieces he already has will go to whoever will also be playing BRD as a 2nd job.

    - Kill Turn 1, you no longer have access to turn 1 until monday
    - Join Turn 4 before clearing Turn 2, you no longer have access to Turn 2 & 3 until monday.

Thank you for these clarifications. I understand now. :]

It sounds like it's ideal to do Turn 1, Turn 2, and Turn 4 exactly once each week.
