So much slippery slope in this thread. . .

I don't see how this could possibly lead to the game "playing itself." There's still a person there, making decisions, pushing buttons to make their character take actions. Yes, you'll be given more than enough info to make those decisions, and yes, it may be way more info than you actually need. That doesn't mean you can just wander off and go make a sandwich while the game continues to dps for you. Unless, I guess, if you're a tank and you realize you have holycrapwtf aggro lead and decide to take a quick afk. Then again, I could pretty much do that on certain NMs even without the meter.

As for it being a case of "WoWification," I'll concede that point. On the other hand, WoW went a really long time without a built-in hate meter. The only reason they eventually added it was because they realized that a dps/hate meter was one of the single most-downloaded addons. I'm sure the guys at SE realized that it was only a matter of time if they did decide to allow addons, which I believe they've said might be in the works. Depending on the functionality, I'd kinda rather have a built-in one. . .

.............. really why is this even coming up several times. I can safely tell you, I met tons of ppl in ffxi who didn't play smart yet claim to be elite. Did you know that in ffxi after a while ppl just started zerging mobs w/o caring for hate management? And this was during cop.

I find it a bit of a shame that SE is taking every bit of learning XI had out of XIV. Because of this I may have a harder time staying interested in the game.

I think it will be great. It was one of the things I really liked in WoW. It is fun to push everyone to the limit, but not take hate and wipe the raid. It doesn't really make things easier, but adds a nice factor to consider when you are nuking away Balancing damage/hate/aggro is a nice thing to do when you are fightning. We will have to see how it works out, but if the do it right i can be pretty nice.

I seriously do not see how this makes the game play itselfs. It is still a human being making the decision to nuke or not to nuke. You still have to know how much damage you are going to do with a nuke or weapon skill. Can you do it right now without taking hate or do you have to wait a few more second for the tank to pull away?

In FFXI you never knew when you were about to take hate, which sometimes was fun, but wasted lots of time and potential on the classes.

Yes it's coming up several time because some are confusing casual with easy mode and not skilled player which is totally wrong... Some people playing 18hours a day are not necesseraily playing smartly, some are. Some people playing 2hours per day play smart, some don't. Ultimately, I agree with you

As a healer, I used aggro as a tool not only to plan my heals, but when not to heal, so as not to pull aggro on myself. Can I work without it? Sure, but it helps. I just look at it as a tool, not a crutch.

I certainly understand if someone wants to take pride in being really skilled, but I don't think having tools is a bad thing. Before modern technology, people were truly skilled. Now we have machines to help with everything. Would you really look down on someone for using a tool to do his job better?

I would be ok with a toggle, like everything else. I might even turn it off myself sometimes, just to up the anti.

I actually like the idea of the "Hate Meter" and think it adds a certain level of strategy for the entire party, knowing where you are in the enmity pecking order.

For casters, like Chezen said, it will be a system that lets them know when they can cast and when they should wait.

But not only that, but it will add a new focus for tanks: Ensuring the parties hate does not compound on a single player. They can monitor this by using Accomplice on people that have too much enmity.

Please add this feature SE. If you don't, someone else will eventually once you support 3rd-party add-ons. Then the community will just force it on everyone & even more people will whine.

FFXI has an enmity meter via Libra and no one said it made the game easier.
