    Also, I doubt "Samurai" is going to be the name of the Weapon Class. It'll be something like Wanderer, Ronin, Bushido, Parivr, Vagrant, etc.

    Samurai would be the job it unlocks.
    I'd freeze myself cryogenically until the patch that had Parivirs (if they're anything like the FFTA2 version) were released if they confirmed that. That's like, everything I've ever wanted from a class. An awesome, sword wielding class THAT ISN'T A TANK.

    Make it happen.

    I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders.     To add some more wild conjecture; I'd love to see it that Jobs and Classes fit together more like a Main and Sub job. Jobs would be what define your overall abilities, while your sub job is your choice of weapon. This way you could have it so that say, while a warrior with an axe might not be so useful against monsters strong against slashing/blunt damage, they could move to a sword or spear and continue to be viable alongside Dragoons.

    As a (hopeful) example, this could lead to actually requiring some thought before getting in a fight. If the Warrior were to fill a tanking role, using an Axe would end up preferable for fights where mobility is un-needed, but the ability to deflect attacks entirely is important. Conversely, fights where mobility is needed would favor sword/board for tanking, with less damage reduction but the benefit that you don't need to sit in place a few seconds (though you would need to keep your guard ability up).

    If this ends up being where the devs go, I would gladly welcome this added depth to gear choice and the choices/preparation needed pre-fight. Tweak weapons as needed to make them distinct and offer obvious specific roles for a given Job to take on and I'd be in heaven.

    TL;DR Love to see it where Jobs define WHAT you do, and weapons be a choice of how you tackle a fight or counter an enemy.
    This is what im hoping for, Job/Class like Main and sub. Now this would truly be a "Marriage" of the two systems..

    they can still add weapon to any class to any weapon.

    just like they have some stuff now theres shields for only GLD, CON and THM already have a one hand & two hand weapon, DoH have two tool's no reason they can do it for any other class.

    I don't think you understand what the "weapons" are

    Shield are a Sentinel Weapon. When you equip one you become Part Sentinel. Part what ever other class you are currently.


    The Tools that Conjurer and Thaumaturge get are not really their weapons, They are mages. Their MAGIC is their weapon. The tools they get are just Focuses that help them call on their weapons.

    DOH's two tools are a main and a sub equipment and both deal with only specifically that class Frying Pan/Culinary Knife etc.

    I doubt we'll see any classes with more then one melee weapon type. Your not going to see what ever the Great Katana Class is weilding Polearms, But if they get Samurai as their job they better freaking be able too use Samurai with a Polearm or GK.

    Nah, no blame. It's not like you're out there casting Raise III on threads that have answers and no relative purpose without regard. This one's passionate and relevant, it's just gone dark because - to answer your question - we did get an answer on it. The answer was simply in the form of an interview and not a lodestone announcement:

    At first, the job system is confirmed to have only the one-class-to-one-job set-up. Yoshida said that, while this is definite for the first incarnation of the system, he hesitates to say that it will ALWAYS be that way, and that as it's refined and developed, they're going to explore their options for opening it up and see if that's what they really want to do.

    If I had to guess, I'd say that as soon as they know the system works and it has a solid foundation, we'll begin to see a little bit of pro/con cross-over like we did in FFXI. Whether that'll end up being minimal "That makes sense..." crossovers or the full-on "Warrior is the Swiss Army Knife of Vana'diel" scenario again - there's not even a little hint.
