If you do want to play whatever role you want, that sounds like it's the realm of the current class system. Jobs, again as I understand it, are meant to fill specific roles and will be a lot more rigid and defined. Obviously that also includes weapon usage.
Yep my point you can level up CONJ and unlock monk that just make no sense or be a Lancer and unlock monk.
