Then Technically Conjurer and Thaumaturge can equip Paladin :P
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

I was really wanting something as a cross between FFXI and Tactics, where you could have some that would only require a single dependency, and others that would require multiple. This works particularly well when you couple in DOH/DOL jobs - Dark Knight could feasibly require, say Lv 30 Marauder, Lv 20 Conjurer, and Lv 20 Botanist (scythe). Paladin would require Gladiator, Sentinel (whatever is going on with that), and Conjurer. Ninja could have Marauder, Fisherman, and Alchemist. Samurai could have Marauder, Lancer, and Blacksmith. Dragoon could have Lancer, Shepherd, and Carpenter. Etc. Getting jobs to 30 in this game isn't that hard at all, and I think the evidence is there that we won't be looking at getting capped at 99 this time around.
As an aside, I'm really hoping that the addition of auto-attack includes DOL, so that those classes will get a bit of flexibility in the field, and they don't have to class-change every time they need to deal with a monster.

I cant see a Thaumaturge becoming a white mage since it doesnt use any traditional white mage spells in the first place. I'd rather see it become a new mage type job, or pull one of the mage jobs from the ivalice side of things that might fit better.
Honestly, its just kinda silly to think that there wont be branching job paths eventually though.

Slow, Silence, Bind, Ressurect(Raise) are all White Magic and White Mage ish spells. It became the Red Mage speciality only in XI because of the enfeebling specialisation they got.I cant see a Thaumaturge becoming a white mage since it doesnt use any traditional white mage spells in the first place. Don't forget they're going to balance classes.I cant see a Thaumaturge becoming a white mage since it doesnt use any traditional white mage spells in the first place. I'd rather see it become a new mage type job, or pull one of the mage jobs from the ivalice side of things that might fit better.

Either way, I hope that rep post is inaccurate, took a hit to my faith in this game.

Hmm you're right there...
I guess some classes might lose/gain skills in that case. How did it knock your faith down a notch though? Its highly unlikely that the team will just leave all classes/future classes implemented with just one job to branch off to.
EDIT: As for Summoner, whenever thats implemented, i'm sure they'll implement Evoker first.

For something that's been in the works for this long 1 job per class just seems like a major letdown.
This game needs something BIG to keep it alive, and this doesn't seem to be close to it.

Thm= Necromancer from FF5. Cure will damage them, could give them their own dark heals. Doesn't have to have a minion, it just can charm dead mobs to fight later on or something.

FF5 only had Necromancer on one version and that was a remake of a remake only released in the US and wasnt developed by SE.
