The job system - that series-defining trademark - will be implemented in FINAL FANTASY XIV (details such as specific jobs TBA). Quests to unlock each job will become available once you have reached a certain rank in the corresponding class.
Rather than being advanced versions of classes, we would like players to think of jobs as specialized playing styles optimized for partying. While playing as a particular job will render you unable to equip certain actions of other classes, you will be compensated with access to exclusive actions, which can be acquired through quests.
In the most literal sense, these words read to me as: if Conjurer unlocks Black Mage you have to be on Conjurer to equip Black Mage. You are still the class "Conjurer" you just have Black Mage as your defined party role and get buffs and abilities that would befit a Black Mage. It does not remove your original Conjurer abilites. You can't, for example, equip some skills from Lancer or even Thaumaturge, but that doesn't take away your own classes skills.
However, this assumes that Conjurer keeps the cure spell line. After the battle update, they may rearrange those skills and make Thaumaturge the healer archetype. That part is uncertain. It also assumes Conjurer unlocks Black Mage, which just makes sense given the elemental nukes are Conjurer abilities currently. However, they could decide Thaumaturge unlocks Black Mage for some odd reason. Or they could reassign elemental nukes to Thaums post battle update. We don't know about all that just yet.
What we do know, according to what has been told to us by these quoted words above is that the only abilities we are locked out of are other classes abilities (read: not the class you are on which unlocked the job, but other classes) in exchange for more specialized abilities from the job. Unless the letter was worded wrong in translation, I have to go by what is literally stated. We really all should, otherwise we will get more "SE lied to us" posts by people that assumed incorrectly.

So at a minimum, the Class that unlocks a Job will have full access to that Class's abilities while playing that Job. That's at minimum.

I do not think they would need to use those terminologies unless class and job were not locked with each other. If they are then all they had to say was "Jobs give the class that unlocks them more specialization and skills" which it doesn't.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
We're retaining the ability to equip abilities from classes other than our own. Jobs limit which cross-class abilities we can equip. That doesn't imply that jobs and classes are not locked. Or that they are locked.
You seem to have moved from "please don't do this" to "they're not doing this" in the absence of sufficient evidence to draw a conclusion either way.
Not really a valid point, considering they could word it a number of ways and it would still be as ambiguous as it is now.
Still would like to know your system's answer to job-specific armour and weapons (weapons alone should suggest they're a specific role, unless you want to suggest every class gets new weapons for every specialisations). In the case of the above 'Divine Lancer', would it also get its own unique gear? As well as Divine Marauder or whatever? Pretty much kills the 'FF' feel of it if so, and it's totally unrealistic.
Could someone

Yes but they also said they're changing classes as well...so we may very well see both Cure and Sacrifice moved to one DoM class.
Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh

Just speculation on my part, but I think it'll work like this:
You start the game as any available class you wish, as well as a default job, say Freelancer. This job can use most skills in the armory system at the expense of having no native traits of it's own. As your class develops, you are given quest opportunities for jobs related to that class, or you're given the option to purchase key items that unlock the job from the relevant guild, much like how we can purchase crafting skills at present.
So using the above scenario, You start as a Musketeer/Freelancer. You complete the first class quest, and choose to use your guild marks to purchase a key item that unlocks Ranger (as Rangers can use bows, the key item can be bought at that guild as well.) after the next class quest, you can purchase an item that unlocks Corsair, then Sniper, and so on.
Again, just specualtion, but it seems to me a logical way to introduce jobs in this game.
How long can you guys keep up the mental gymnastics? It's pretty clear from the Q/A that there will be certain abilities/skills that will not be cross-classed. Also, Jobs will be Class Specific because they are a "Specialization".
^ the above is clear and its up to you to accept it and quit your whining. It's annoying.

Seriously though, I didn't see anything in the Q/A that Jobs were Specializations. Can you provide the quote?
