    What's hurting the new players? Game Design

    I think it's fair to say that I, like many Americans, are opportunist. If there's a great way to do something, or a more efficient/profitable way to do something, I'm going to do it that way.

    With that being said, I'm a very happy customer. I'm enjoying the game to it's fullest, and with that, I'm promoting the game to my friends to see if any of them will bite.

    My best friend who I've been gaming with for about 7 years finally came over (yay!). I knew without there being PvP it was going to be a hard sell, but finally, I was able to convince him.

    To the point: He just started. He's doing the main story quests, and I created a tank to play with him. With the two of us qued as tank/dps, it is near impossible to find a group for the main-story dungeons. He's level 20 (can't get a mount) and we're still queing for Sastasha because EVERYONE is fate grinding. Why do something else that takes effort when you can mindlessly fate grind?

    And I'm not saying I'm blaming the people, like I said, I prefer to be a efficient gamer. I want to do things that give me the best outcome, and I think nerfing fates would be a terrible idea. I just can't believe for three nights I can't get a group with him. I'm having to guilt my FC members to get lvl 15 content done. Seriously?

    However, something really needs to be done to promote people to que for dungeons. This is so unfriendly to the new players. Surely it's not intentional?

    If i was on ur server i surely go dungeon with u
    I leveled with each dungeon sometimes repeating till i hit the next lv requiered for the nex dungeon

    Why would you think that making a potential paying customer unhappy is intentional? People likely get to that point before their subscription starts and the subscription is where the real money is.

    Healers are the big "restriction" in pre-30 dungeons because there is only Conjurer at that level, it gets a bit more balanced post-30 where Scholar is able to join the queue.

    There is supposed to be a looking for group board to allow people to post requests for party members for whatever content they want so people can look at the board and see who needs help with something. There is also going to be a Random Duty Finder function where you must queue solo and you get stuck in a random Duty that you've cleared and receive a reward upon completion. That, along with the new MVP system (if it has some good rewards or bragging rights) will hopefully get more people helping out newbies.

    Hopefully they will boost dungeon XP though...

    I'm just not sure if that stuff will really be enough. I mean, I was running fates with him while qued, there were at least 40 people in Aleport (where the dungeon is). I spammed every 5-10 minutes to see if anyone was interested and they simply weren't.

    Regardless, hope it's enough. I just had no idea it was this bad, and thought hey -- If I'm unaware, maybe SE is too.

    They're fixing this in 2.1 by doubling the experience you get from running dungeons.

    It should be comparable (I would even say superior) to FATE grinding, so let's hope it is.

    FATEs should be filler content and for solo players.

    The main issue is that people cannot help lowbies without taking the exp, for example if I want to heal someone I'll get full aggro and take the exp from them. We cannot help them without hurting them, which needs to go.

    Honestly, the Duty Finder seems to involve some luck. Sometimes I'll be waiting a very long time (40ish minutes) to get a group as a DPS, other times I activate DF and I'm in after less than 10 minutes. When I'm on a DPS I just farm or craft while I wait. Doing leves is a bit risky (I wish that if DF pops your leve wasn't wasted).

    Umm, then do dungeons with them so you get level synched?

    In a game where its so easy and fast to level do you really need to be PL'ing someone?

    dungeons when run well are really not bad EXP. Also, you get a bonus for helping someone who is clearing the dungeon for the first time. You'd think this would encourage people to keep running.

    I just started playing (only like level 16) and I'm already on the boards browsing to see what the community is talking about. From what I've seen, End-Game feels...incomplete; therefore, I'm not in a rush to get to the end. The people who grinded FATEs to the max level are now the ones saying that there's nothing to do on the game. I would rather get lesser rewards but actually play in a nice group and have some fun. I don't get the point of blowing through an MMO
