Stuck at "Now Loading" Black Screen after Character Selection

Hi guys,

After a market ward crash, I have been unable to log into my character. After selecting the character, I go straight to a never ending black Now Loading screen.

Logging in as a different character works fine. The same issue happens when I try to log in using a second computer. My main character can't log in, but my second character logs in just fine.

This problem has persisted for some time. Any ideas? I've tried restarting computer, flushing dns, etc.

whats your specs are you sure directX is on your pc

Thanks for the reply. Windows 7, with a GTX 580. I am very sure it isn't a problem on my side, since the same problem is replicated with three different computers and three different ISPs.

SE NA customer support has been unhelpful. I get generic answers like check the website, turn off my firewall, call my ISP..
SE Europe was a LOT more helpful. They knew right away that the problem wasn't with my computer and ISP, and suggested I delete my character and call to get it restored. However, they were unable to access my account due to it being in NA.

I will be contacting SE NA again until I get my problem solved

I'm having exactly the same problem with my main character (other characters work fine, and different computers also fail to login with main character). Did you manage to get this resolved by deleting the character and getting SE to restore it?

I don't recall ever finding a good solution to this problem, but it's possible that a server update would reset your character.

You definitely aren't the first to experience it. And it's entirely FFXIV related, nothing to do with your own configuration.

Just wanted to come back on and confirm way to get through this is to delete your character and then call SE support and get them to reinstate your character. If you did start hitting this problem then my advise would be to delete straight away and the call SE support to ask for a reinstate, if you call them first and try to troubleshoot with them then you'll waste weeks of time ruling out every other possibility for the problem first!

Hey guys. I Am having the same problem. My character is situated at Nophica's Wells right now.

I upgraded my drivers fully, i've been running the game just fine since beta 2. When i try to log in with my character specifically it is stuck with the FF prelude running in the background.

My girlfriend was able to log into the game with my character and we are using the exact same macbook model and internet connection. I was able to log into her character on her separate account, which is situated next to the guildleve counter.

Delete everything (or move it into a temporary folder on your desktop) and then try running the game again. It will recreate all those files from scratch and hopefully fix the issue.

Will that take long? Currently i do not have access to the installation DVD, is there a chance that i will have to do a full reinstall?

Those files are just a few kilobytes (minus screenshots) and can be recreated by the game without the dvd.
