This is all Phenomenal news indeed. It may be an unpopular opinion of mine, but I want to see more and more aspects of XI be put into this game, and this is a great start. I couldn't care less about what is considered MMO or not. Before XI got all desperate to remain relevant with all the level sync and 99 cap crap, it was the best MMO ever made in my opinion, even with all its faults...

So, great news! I finally have a reason to be happy about this thing. Great job SE.

So when do you guys think the NEW JOBS will be implamented? Do you start at rank one or rank 50 on the NEW JOB? Be very interesting to see how, what and when they start to add these features.

Is this new job system in 1.18? I think some people assume its going to be in it and I don't think it will be.

We know for sure the new battle system will be introduced in 1.18. And according to the Dev post, character development through jobs is a part of that. So I'd dare to say it's pretty likely possible.

This Dev post probably takes the cake out of all the post from Devs I seen so far, so many things I wanted are being done here, so many rumors, speculation, and questions are being answered. Almost everything I see here is pure epic win if done right in my opinion.

Only thing I am not hot for is showing your hate... that takes alot away from hate control and learning how to manage it, but if everything else is as good as it sounds I guess I can over look that 1 thing.

If the updates ends up being as good as this post sounds, I think the game is well on its way to making a very good recovery.

Or it could mean other classes get more skills that do not do damage to deal 2x, 3x, 4x to the "Enmity Damage"

    IE

Archer Uses Wide Volley Does 1000 Damage and 1000 Enmity Damage.

Gladiator uses Provoke and does 0 Damage and 5000 Enmity Damage.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

    Good things:

Jobs are specialisations within the armory system. I figured they were intelligent enough to take this route but I was apprehensive all the same. One thing I wonder is whether the specialisations will also add bonus/nerf stats as well as new abilities.

    Skill and cooperation being important.

The game will save our gear and action-bar load-out.
(Now if only it could save our point-allotment load out)

    More NMs and content.

    Bad things:

Sorry, maybe I missed something, but why are they implementing auto-attack? What is so special about auto attack that it will save this combat system and by extension the game itself?

So positioning will positioning no longer matter in combat? Auto attack in a game with no editive layer for animations means that we will be stuck in place the whole battle.

I still have no idea how the combat system will play.

yeah from what they described, auto attack is doing nothing to help thier system, i guess it will give weapon speeds. buuut they could have done that via stamina, i thought they already had, but maybe i was wrong.

1: Auto Attack is being implemented because as a social game it's hard to be social when all activities in the game require constant battle input. Battles will be moving to a more tactical aproach and being reactive than being just active.

2: Positioning may still play a roll in not only emnity gain "frontal attacks gain more emnity?" but just because we currently don't have the abillity to move while attacking does not mean it will not be implemented with animations to boot.

3: Nobody does, the update wasn't meant to give you a picture book with instructions, but to give you some information on what they are working on.
