Yes the event is short and sweet but I was surprised they managed to pull anything together at all seeing as it's only 6 weeks from launch and all the problems in the beginning. I think next year they will flesh it out a little. Good job!

The thing is, FFXIV is about being a part of a world, it's just that a very vocal minority of players think it should only be about end-game raids and uber-gear. Happily I am not of that minority, and get tired of people who treat these games as mathematical exercises in optimal raiding strategies and gear acquisition through end-game raids. This is an MMORPG, whatever happened to the social aspects of that? Did they die in the wake of damage parsers and '733t' gamerz? If that's what people want they should go play a solo game like Demon souls, and let the rest of us enjoy our MMO world.

THIS ^
I remember these games used to be all about playing with people to have fun. These days it's all about playing with people to prove how much better than them you are.

Better than the v1 first events. "Back in the day", though, we felt lucky to have a seasonal event. Its entirety was ringing a bell in-town, getting a crafting mat, then finding a crafter to synth the prize. Or less often you'd get a box and would have to run or teleport to one of the hamlets to exchange it for a piece of gear. Ah, those days of low anima. At least it recharged, unlike our gil.![]()
This is disappointment.
I knew this would happen.
> Really shitty 20 min Events. - Do a single boring quest or FATE grind to get clothes that's not vanity.
> FATE events a la Light & DQ. - Lag FATE which will come and nothing will load trololol.
I hope Christmas is better. I mean they only cover one tiny area and call it seasonal.
Why not make the atmosphere spooky too? The nights, witches laughter? Ghosts coming every now and then?
Kids trick or treating?
Sick of these stupid events. PLEEEASEE do Christmas right in the very least.
I hope in due time they will make better events...I thought Summer was a last minute thing.
I see the Judgy McJudgisons from Judge Town are out on patrol.

This is not to sound rude. But I, for one, saw this coming from miles. I knew that the halloween event would be something really simple.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out why.
Hint: Priorities.
Off course, the summer event and halloween event feels like something tossed up quickly. Because that's mostly what it also is. Most of their attention is in fixing critical bugs(like the binding coil of bahamut turn 5), enhancing servers/gameplay and working on patch 2.1. Why else do you think we're not even hearing much of the devs around the forum anymore. I'm still hoping to see Fernehalwes back around the forums. But they're clearly swamped with work.
3 things that take up lots of resources. Learn to use common sense people. I'm sure that S-E would have preferred not creating any event at all. So be happy with the small bone S-E is tossing us. I'm only expecting events to become better at/after christmas/new year.
Until then, keep your expectations low.

This. Completely this. If SE was producing these amazing, detailed fluff events while leaving exploits, bugs, balance issues in place etc I'd be angry. You can have your amazing fluff events a year from now (sidenote: I love the holiday events, they do add fun variety to the game) when the bugs are smoothed out and there's a range of regular content in place. If they pushed back CT a month just because they decided to produce a Halloween dungeon I'd be more than a little worried about the long term development plan. This is not to sound rude.
