Seasonal events: Underwhelming?

well, it's true that GW2 did it right
let's just see GW2's halloween event when they totally remake a whole town's theme into hallowen
even the big statue in the middle of the city is revamped into a completely different statue
compared to ARR summer/halloween event, they just added some new npc and some decoration, that's it
you can't feel the event in the other parts of the city

Did it right?! They're doing it right! Seriously, I haven't played for a while but last I heard, they had some kind of old schood pixel platformers and all kind of stuff. The winter event last year was impressive, featuring platform games, a pvp battleground and a guitar hero styled competition. The stuff GW2 puts out is impressive. I have no expectations that FF14 will do this, GW2 excels in this area.

I think these mediocre events are acceptable now in the beginning of the game, I feel as if the game is one of the most incomplete mmorpg releases I've experienced (although I still like it... :P ) and I doubt seasonal events are high on their priority list.

i'm done with GW2 and i've subbed ARR for 3 months, why would i want to go back to GW2?
GW2 has some good points, which FFXIV can consider to apply too
if you think FFXIV is already perfect as it is and complains/feedbacks aren't needed, this game isn't going to last long

Yes, it auto-activated about an hour ago - on Ridill when I left Gridania for Camp Bronze Lake the summer event was still active, Returned to Gridania about half an hour later and the Halloween event had replaced it and there were even some players already running around in ghost costumes.

GW2 has been out for longer than FFXIV: ARR. You got to let Square get it together first.

GW2 had a really great Halloween event up and running a few months after launch and it saved the game because most people were getting tired of it. Too bad Yoshi doesn't have anything big like that planned.

A few months after launch. Which unfortunately was too late for them to keep some players who started to hate the whole game (Me, my guild and friends).
As you can tell I'm new to FFXIV but I was pleasantly surprised to see them having a Halloween event, rehashed from 1.0 or not. I wasn't expecting them to do anything at all considering ARR only just released.
