...New quote from tonight's (10/16/2013, 9:15PM PST, roughly) LFTP has me worried.

So, we got a new Letter From The Producer (LI) tonight. In it, Yoshi-P reiterated a lot of what we already know.

But one quote in particular stood out to me.

More details will be revealed during the upcoming LIVE letters. I'm planning to host one every month up until the release of 2.1, and I hope you tune in to all of them!

Now that made me raise my eyebrow just a little bit. We're a month and a half in, and the plan was to have a major update (i.e. a 2.x rather than a 2.0x) every 3 months.

Of course, development times can take a little longer than expected, be patient, yadda yadda, yeah I know all that, but it's the way he phrases it, "every month," as though we still have several months to go before 2.1 hits. Now, that could just be glass-half-empty quote distortion on my part, but some of the features in 2.1 are things I really, really want. Housing was one of my favorite parts of FFXI, and I can't wait for it here. PvP will be a nice (if laggy, given every other encounter in the game, good luck, melee! Even the trailer they had for PvP had everyone politely standing perfectly still 95% of the time so melee could actually attack!) diversion, and of course new endgame content and such!

Obviously you can't make a thread voicing concerns such as these without a thousand people jumping down your throat for "not being patient" and telling you their life story about how they're happy and only play an hour or day or leveled all their crafts to 50 or some crap like that because if you voice a concern about something some people like then some of those people take grave, grave offense to it and see fit to tell you exactly what you should feel and how you should play --like them, of course!-- but again, this isn't a thread that's me going "WHAT THE HELL YOSHI-P YOU PROMISED" or anything of that nature. Just curious if I'm misinterpreting this quote.

I just went and read the letter, and i believe you are spot on. Sounds like a 3 month wait our so for 2.1. I am stoked for the Crystal Tower (24 man raid O.o), but I guess this will just give other FC mates time to get ready.

I'm pretty sure 2.1 will be hitting by the end of november, giving him time to do one more live letter.

They have been saying they would be doing one a month since the launch. I think it is just a restatement of the same old, even regarding that. That being said, there is almost always setbacks, but they have said repeatedly that it would be here before the end of the year. Now, some people have been suggesting end of November since that would make it 3 months since release, but even with a few weeks setback, that is still plenty of time to hit it before the end of the year (which is really all they ever promised, IIRC.)

That being said, obviously you are on content locust, and just consuming everything way too fast! How dare you have a level 50 already with quite a bit of level 90 gear! Slow your roll, enjoy the game pffffft. *trollface.jpg*

They will get housing right at least. So it's everything we hoped and dreamed it would be. Opposed to something half-assed or reskin of a Mog House/Inn.

I hope it's out before the holidays though. Not like I'm going to have free time in January.

When I read the info about the up comming patches 2.1 2.2 and 2.3 I am pretty sure they said that 2.1 would at first be released late Oct or sometime in Nov, now a FC mate of mine has said that they have stated that it will be released in Nov this being said about 1-2 weeks ago he is someone who really keeps a watch on all the letters, extra info, blogs and so on but it can have been changed since then because of different problems like with turn 5 being locked now for some time for example.

Waiting on balance changes in 2.1 is going to be almost unbearable if it's pushed back past November.

If it hits in late November or early December I'll still be a relatively happy camper, but if it's pushed much later than that I'm not sure how I'll entertain myself! Well, besides playing other games or like, going outside or crazy stuff like that. But I mean in regards to FFXIV specifically!

Well i wont even begin to speculate on when this may be coming until at least after the live letter in 2 days, hopefully it will be more clear then.

Ahh, excellent point. The Live letter should clear this up nicely. I hope it was just phrased poorly, because Yoshi-P and his team've really been kicking ass for a long time, so I hope they didn't encounter too many setbacks.
