Let me ask this, and I'm not trying to start a flame war or any crap.
What is pushing you away from converting your linkshell into an FC?
You don't even really -have- to use any of the FC features, per se,
but you'd have the 512 member cap instead of the 128.
Mostly the fact that people can only have 1 FC, so they'd all have to leave their FCs for the Linkshell to be converted into an FC. About 80% of most Linkshell members already have an FC. What I am wondering is why, when you can only have one FC, but people can have multiple Linkshells so they don't have to be restricted to one, is the Linkshell member limit so low? 128 is a really low number for a chat group, especially since they don't allow you to see last log ins so that you may be able to remove inactive people.

128 is beyond enough. What is wrong with you people?
I do agree showing a last log in would be nice though.

Hmm. In that case, and I know this might not exactly seem ideal, you could essentially make
two linkshells as one linkshell, in a way. You can make "Linkshell" and "Linkshell2" or some varient
of. That way you technically have 128x2 of space. Then you can have both linkshells chats in the
same tab in your chat box. Just an idea.![]()
I believe what SE had in mind regarding the LS/FC sizes was that FC would be comprised of a large number of people that would group up in large numbers to battle and linkshells are more to the social end. As far as the size.. in FFXI we made due with a limit of 36 members in our LS. I'm not sure what the idea is behind feeling a need to have hundreds of people in your linkshell but it's a popular apparently. Personally I'm completely fine with the current limits. I'd rather know everyone in my shell.
I have thought of possibly doing that. I may ^^Hmm. In that case, and I know this might not exactly seem ideal, you could essentially make

It would be better to just have a larger limit on linkshells. I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind the low member cap.
And to those of you who are against it, how would it hurt your game experience personally if the Linkshell limit were to be increased?
I know on some servers there are Linkshells for everyone who speaks a certain language to be able to keep in touch.
There are also Linkshells to watch for FATEs like Odin and Behemoth popping, as well as Group Finder Linkshells.
A larger limit could only help these people out right? Who would it make life harder on?
Even if there never is a member cap increase, it would be good to be able to see last log-ins.
With a member limit this low, there is always a chance that over time it will become inactive due to many of the people in it leaving or taking long breaks from the game.
When people are often on at different times of the day, you can't accurately get an idea of who has been online lately by just asking people in the linkshell if they've seen them.
That person might be quiet, or a night owl, and then you end up kicking someone who is actually an active player. o_o

This splits people up, segregating a community that would otherwise want to remain together. It's been a major problem with the RP linkshell on Balmung, which has three (or was it four?) separate linkshells so far to fit everyone, and that's not even the entirety of roleplayers on the server.Hmm. Incidentally, 128 is only 16 players if everyone has 8 alts in the shell. I know that isn't a very likely situation, but it does put into perspective how very low the 128 member limit is.
SE also greatly underestimated the number of people in general who would be playing this game as well. So what SE had in mind vs what Linkshells have actually become is the thing to consider.I believe what SE had in mind regarding the LS/FC sizes was that FC would be comprised of a large number of people that would group up in large numbers to battle and linkshells are more to the social end. Because FCs are exclusive and Linkshells are not, there are a lot more small FCs out there and the Linkshells have become their way of keeping in touch with the rest of the server. Partially the reason this is such an issue, is the fact that we have no world channels that span across multiple zones other than the Linkshells and FC chats.
Also I played FFXI for years, I never realized the member limit on Linkshells was 36. Was it really THAT low? O_o They felt pretty full and active for that to be the case. D=
Also if you like a smaller, more intimate linkshell, the member limit cap being increased won't effect that. It won't FORCE you to invite more people to your own Linkshell that you like just how it is, small and cozy. It would simply help out those who need a larger chat group for whatever reason.
