This is exactly my point. Why have such a low limit on what is essentially just a chat group of people who'd like to be in touch with each other? This splits people up, segregating a community that would otherwise want to remain together. It's been a major problem with the RP linkshell on Balmung, which has three (or was it four?) separate linkshells so far to fit everyone, and that's not even the entirety of roleplayers on the server.
Incidentally, 128 is only 16 players if everyone has 8 alts in the shell. I know that isn't a very likely situation, but it does put into perspective how very low the 128 member limit is.

I know that linkshells are unique in their having a kind of "in lore" thing compared to chat channels in other games but I'm wondering if it's some consideration for memory management to consoles or what not as it might be with the FC as well, 8 times X number of members could lead to significant resource use, but I'm not exactly sure how much of that would be server side and whatnot.
They're higher than in FFXI but I don't think we're going to find out what the developer reasoning is this time around, but maybe it could be raised in time? We tend to forget that we're basically in the first iteration of a new game with no expansions yet, there is loads to be done and to come.
I'm not sure what impact this would have on the console front. That could very well be part of the issue I suppose? Though I don't see how, if you have access to Shout, which is unlimited with no issue, I don't see why having an unlimited number of people in other chats would effect you, except for maybe bringing up the member lists? Even then you can do searches from consoles though... so I'm just not sure. =/

I agree with this, especially the part about last logins.
Why ask for a increase of the limit cap when we can ask to have it removed?
LS are chat channels. We are in a 2013 MMO, it's not friggin odd to ask for plain unlimited chat channels isn't it?
Also the game would feel way less lonely with more people to speak with...
This is true. WoW has unlimited user-created chat channels and it has for several years. I'm not sure what the issue is, or why the cap is even neccessary since all Linkshells have is the chat and a member list to manage. The list could maybe be the thing? Though if you can have a 500+ person list for your FC, there's no reason why you couldn't have the same for Linkshell. If it's an issue of bringing up the 2 lists at the same time, maybe make it so you can't bring up FC list and LS list at the same time?
I'm just scratching my head at how low the member cap is and wondering what the why behind it is.

Wow, here I was thinking the limit was already much too high as it is personally. You usually only have a handful of people that are active at any time in a LS anyway. I can't even imagine increasing the capacity, but it would be nice to see when people logged in last.
Either way, consider this a free bump and good luck.
