    Hacking Attempts?

    Has anyone else been getting some suspicious activity on either their sony account, or their email account?

    Yesterday I got a message saying someone from Russia was trying to access my email account, but it was blocked by email company. It recommended I change my passwords to ensure security.

    Now today I go to log into my playstation and it keeps telling me wrong user name and password. So I log in, and it tells me that my account was being accessed from a foreign region, and therefore my password was auto changed for protection. I was forced into resetting everything to get logged back in.

    The only changes that have been made as of late are that I started playing FF14, which are linked to my Sony account, which in turn in linked to my email account. Just curious if anyone else is suddenly seeing these kinds of things happening?

    I got a email saying there was suspicious activity on my account after I try to renew my subscription. It was strange because I couldn't use my card but I could use it to buy Crysta. that was last weekend when I came back to the game after mine 30 days ran out. I change my password for the game and I hope that fixed it but it's kind of bull that this is happening. se need to boost their security if this happens to me again I'm quitting for good.

    Of course the hackers infiltrated SE and only went after your account.

    I had an odd e-mail pop up on an old e-mail account I still had on my iPhone. Until 10/11 I had been without internet access at home since August 1st, yet in mid-September I had some strange e-mail on my old gmail account asking me to log in and verify my SE/FFXIV account. I hadn't even bought the game at that point. Needless to say it got deleted.

    My best bet is it is IP-Logging. I only did get that message as I logged into the forum from elswhere than my gamingcomputer.

    There are quite a few other postings on this - it's IP logging. Unfortunately if you use certain providers you'll get this message even if you only ever play from home. It's similar to Rift's Coin lock system.
    So nothing to be too concerned about, just a bit frustrating as it can seem like another log on -> another password reset.

    It happened to me yesterday. I switched from a network to another and the SE account got locked. Actually that helps an hacker or malevolent person (like an angry partner ) to get into the SE account. If one manages to get into the email used for logging in FF XIV s/he just needs to try to login with the tethered mobile phone, thus changing the IP address and then reset the password from the email. It does more damage than the good it expects to achieve.

    The best way is to download the SQEX Token app for your smart phone and activate the One-Time password on you SE account - this way not only you're protected form any hacking but also you'll not be forced to reset your password every time you log in from new location or IP address.
