small worry on companies

Which ever is the most rewarding people will stick to, no matter where it is or whatever you plan now.

Probably wont be a "most rewarding" scenario, and how do we know you can drop and re-enlist? meaning once you enlist you may be stuck with your choice. The way it was worded was weird - at first it made it sound like you will auto enlist for "optimal manpower" and then it made it sound like its your choice, but clearly they will give you a reason to enlist with other companies based on "which company's ethos you most closely identify" so the way I see this happening is you will be "leaned" in a certain direction but the choice is still yours, this will most likely lead to plenty of people sticking with their LS mates.

Does anyone else think the gridanian company is going to be underpopulated? i cant really put a finger on it but i feel like the other 2 companies have a much better back story and allure, not to mention the leader, though im sure capable by the games lore, does not really have the look and feel from what i read as someone i'd follow personally. What do you guys think?

Gridania is currently my top choice specifically because of the leader, along with the lore. I can't say 100% which I will join until I try them all, of course.

I think personally companies will be a mix of ffxi's home town ranks and Wings city ranks stuff where you had assults. This is according to a deeper lore based info. Saying everyone will have a part to play with in a company. I think any rewarded gear will be based on the santioned guild with in each city. Like Gridania will have gear around archer, conjure, botany, lancer, and carpenter. I'm choosing the Twin adder. Mostly for Rp reasons, but I like the lore of gridania. It reminds me of Zelda

1) the rewards may be purely cosmetic, based to look around the faction you are with
2) their may also be some based on what guilds each city has....

Some may disagree with this, but i hope it is based of guilds in the area, i feel this will give people more of a sense of home and make where you start more meaningful rather then just starting up and running to ul dah. I think in consequence it would bolster the pop of the other nations as well as make their wards more effective. Adding meaning to the citystates has alot of benefits, however i can see problems arising when say pugilists want to join Maelstrom for example. So for this reason alone i dont think this will happen

I hope they dont limit the equipment to what the cities guilds would use, like Limsa equipment would be just for marauders. Limsa only has one battle discipline guild, so that would kind of suck. Given that, I highly hope we dont see just conj or archer gear for gridania, gladiator, puguilist, or thaum gear for ul'dah, or marauder gear for limsa. Since the companies are working together, there should hopefully be some city-made variations of the gear. Same to be said for the crafting and gathering guilds, if they play a part in all of this (as they should)

Im sure crafters will play roles in companies, they will probably be asked to gather materials and craft things for the war effort. And yes you make a good point, i think company themed gear is the way to go. And one other thing id like is company specific capes.
