Aetherfolow Not always Working on SCH?

This has happend to me a few times now, only on sch but not on smn (though I dont' play smn as much). I'll use aetherflow to get mp/charges, and it goes on cool down, but no mp or charges are restored. I feel like it seems to happen more when I'm trying to do things in a hurry (maybe its being clipped with starting a cast?), but it happens so randomly I've no idea how to test this.

Has anyone else noticed similar issues with SCH? Any smn players know if it happens to them too? Any known work around?

It happened to me a number of times. I haven't tried playing after the new update to see if the problem still existed.

If true this would suck, I wonder if this spell can miss. Would suck to have to stack acc just to make sure your mp machanics worked.

Ok color me derp I just remembered aetherfolow is the self buff not the damage drain spell. /derp

The drain can miss, just so you know. And yeah, that does suck, but its an offesnive spell so it makes sense. Course, no sch gear gets any accuracy :/

I've never once had Aetherflow fail to function. I think it falls into that "Itchy trigger finger" habit we tend to have. As one of an Arcanist/Scholar/Summoner's several abilities that does not obey a global cool down people tend to want to fire it off the very moment another spell has finished casting. Due to things like character animations vs recast time + small amounts of server delay you're often not ready to actually activate any ability.

If I need/want to use something like Aetherflow, Virus, Energy Drain, Bane, etc -- anything that doesn't follow a global cooldown I try to sneak it evenly between my usual recast times in an attempt to avoid disrupting my usual rotation as much as possible. It works especially well when finishing abilities that use cast times whereas I tend to catch myself tripping over my cooldowns when using multiple instant cast abilities that trigger a global cooldown (such as Bio, Miasma II, etc).

Just watch your timing & you should be fine.

I think you didn't understand what the OP was saying. What's happening is that you hit Aetherflow and the animation goes off like normal and the ability goes on cooldown, but no MP is restored and no Aetherflow stacks are given even though the ability is now on cooldown and you have to wait another minute to use it again.

In response to the OP, this has happened to me on occasion. I have no idea what causes it to happen or not, but thankfully it doesn't seem super common.

May not be just SCH and that ability. In a couple AK runs yesterday on PLD I had some of my defensive CD's randomly go on CD without actually using them. The BRD in one of the runs was saying the same thing with some of his/hers CD as well. None of this was happening before the recent patch.

As Orin pointed out, this isn't me thinking I used it and it didnt, this is situations where I know it is available, I hit it, animation goes off, no mp resotred and I still have no charges.

Happend to me on smn last night, so apparently its the ability not the job.

This has never happened to me as a SCH, but my brother who is a SMN has this happening quite a lot and since way before the patch.
