How do you select a second class?

Hey,

Sorry if this is a bit of a newbie question, but I looked around on the internet and some people have been saying that as early as level 10 you're able to train a second class. I'm now a level 15 archer, I've been focusing on the main story quests in addition to the archer's guild quests, which I'm unable to continue until level 20. I've got the ability to add stats to vitality, strength etc... But I've not seen an option to select a second class...?

The level 10 class quest from each guild unlocks the ability to go to the other guilds and obtain their "So you want to be a <best class ever>" quests, which in turn unlocks the ability to switch to <best class ever>.

Go to one of the other guilds and talk to the receptionist. Take the quest. They'll jabber at you for a bit about the class. Take the quest again and tell them you really do want to be a <best class ever>. They'll send you to the guild master. The guild master will jabber some more, then ask you if you're really sure. Say yes again, and you'll get a starter weapon for <best class ever>. Equip it and you are now a <best class ever>. Talk to the guild master again for the <best class ever> level 1 class quest.

Not just "two class"; you can unlock all ninteen classes and switch between them freely. When you equip a weapon/tool, you switch to the class for that weapon/tool. You start each class at level 1, 0 XP and level it separately. When you switch to a class, you'll immediately unequip any items not allowed by your current class and level. Gear Sets allow you to record your current equipment loadout and recall it later. Obviously, when you recall a gear set, you'll immediately change to the class for that gear set, since you'll be equipping the main weapon or tool recorded for that gear set. One of the real advantages of having multiple classes is that you have a limited ability to use class actions you know on other classes in your current class. If you've levelled CNJ some, you can put Cure and Protect on your action list for your Archer, for example.

You are almost there

1/go to a guild
2/Talk to the the guild receptionist (twice usually) and accept to join (it gives you a quest)
3/the quest is to speak to the guildmaster (few steps away) that will make a little speech validate your quest (100 xp and a weapon for the new class)
4/the guildmaster will have a red quest marker on him/her until you change class.

You equip the weapon you just got and you will be the new class

Yeah, you save your equipment sets. When you want to change, you equip that set.

tip: remember to save your set when you upgrade your gear.

just go to any class guild and speak to the receptionist who should have a quest icon above there head and then away you go and level the new class but be aware that if the new class is in the same area IE Gridania all the quests you have done with your Archer will not be available to do again apart from the class story,so only way to level up is either fates,dungeons,leves and grinding mobs.

You just change class and level them separately.

So if a level 15 Archer unlocks Conjurer, then they will be a Level 1 Conjurer. If they switch back to Archer, they will go back to level 15.

If by gear loading you mean gear sets, then yes, but it's mainly used for convenience and switching classes quickly. You need to register them yourselves, the game doesn't do it for you.
