The question is why are you using an OS made for tablets?

Actually, as a vendor, most of my customers request 8. -- It actually performs significantly better than 7 in most fields.
Would the average IT upgrade? No.
Would the average gamer upgrade? They should.
There is some legitimacy to using 8 over 7 because of the performance gains.

You don't even need a third party addon to get rid of Metro UI anymore. It is just like Windows 7, but faster.
As for the OP...why would you use the Neutered N version than QQ about it's limitations? Oo
Um....so, turn it off. just a thought, you can do that you know. You only need to get used to, is the "strange touch based" design (if you are using a regular mouse and keyboard).
I mean... Who designed a feature where you have to go to the top of the screen in order to have your mouse cursor change to a hand, so that you can press and hold the mouse button in order to grab hold of an App and drag it all the way down to the bottom to close it? It makes sense with a Touch interface, not so much with a mouse. (^_^ )
When you get used to that, Windows 8 runs smooth as silk.
Please do just the smallest bit of research before talking. It's a small upgrade, but never the less superior to Windows 7, and you can disable Metro/ have the Start button.

I upgraded to windows 8 last December when the PRO version was 39.99 (a great deal) and I'm very happy with its performance. I hate Metro interface but I fixed that by buying Start 8. So i have the familiar UI from windows 7 with all the performance and security enhancements of windows 8.
Bingo. It's a mystery to me why anybody in their right mind would support Windows 8. They need to know how bad it sucks, and that desktop users don't care about tablet BS systems. The only way to do this is not to buy it.
People thinking it's gonna bring huge gains in performance have been lied to. The gains are marginal at best. As long as you have good hardware, Windows 7 is still a superior desktop system. No fruity Metro theme, no stupid app store, no unintuitive put your mouse in this corner BS.
My Windows 7 boots to fully working desktop in 10 seconds lol.
As an IT professional, I hope I never have to use Windows 8 aka Vista 2.0.
