Horrible idea, they need to change asap
At worst this is going to happen maybe 15-30 minutes every few days (Odin/Behemoth). No big deal.
This is probably done to prevent 'zone crashes' that seem to accompany the spawn of King Behemoth and Odin. I can't remember the last time I tried either of these without DCing at some point trying to enter the zone.
Don't worry -- this should only be an 'issue' when these two monsters spawn, and at no other time. I suspect there was no way to 'limit' the people in each zone until now, thus resulting in the crashes. This will just make the zone more stable.
Now if only they would prioritize engaged mobs over players... we'd actually be able to see the monster, avoid abilities, AND get a gold medal for completion.![]()
Yeah, it definitely seems like SE didn't think this through properly. With all of the people who stands in Mor Dhona while farming tomes for gear or looking for groups its gonna cause alot of rage if people can't zone in to get their gear. People who needs to pass through there for the main story will have it rough if the cap is reached. It just seems like a really bad idea to have such a thing like pop cap for zones in the game. I would rather have mobs disappear on me until its properly fixed instead of having it covered up by a dirty band-aid.
You'd rather have server crashes than pop caps?Yeah, it definitely seems like SE didn't think this through properly. This is NOT about disappearing mobs, it's about ensuring server stability.
Ittl be the whole zone. The limit is almost certainly set far above the normal level of activity in the zone- it's designed to keep the server from epxloding when the entire server population pounces on Coerthas to get a piece of the Behemoth FATE.- A maximum limit has been placed on the number of players who can be in one area.
* If you attempt to move into an area which has already reached its maximum limit, you will receive a message saying you cannot enter that area. Should this happen, please wait awhile and try again.
Thoughts? Will this affect whole zone or just a small part of it?
If the whole zone, expect big trouble entering Coerthas...
It's not somethign that they can just fix. The capacity limits of the servers are set under the assumption that many people will be in many different areas (each area is handled by different machines in each server cluster). But if everyone dogpiles into one zone, that heavily stresses one part of the servers and can bring the whole thing down, or at least bring down the zone that's overpopulated.Fix the servers then.
This is something that's true of basically every mmo in the history of ever.

I've done Odin on a legacy server and never disconnected once and havn't heard of anyone else crashing during the fight either.
So it must be something wrong on your end if it only happened to you and a handful of other people.
That is not fixing the servers, that's just limiting the amount of people to prevent the servers from crashing.
Fixing it would be upgrading them to handle the massive amount of people without crashing.
