Maintenance: Cannot transfer character

So my guild plays on the Excalibur server. I bought the game and have tried multiple times to create a character on said server without much luck. Only after I already had a level 20+ character on another server was I able to create a new character on Excalibur.

So "free" server transfers...great idea man. I was so psyched to be able to transfer my character over to Excalibur and play with my guild-mates that I have played other games with dating back to 2005.

But but but....nope, Excalibur does not show up on the transfer list on the morning of 10/15. I scour the forums and I see lots of "try back later", "system is overloaded", etc etc.

Tonight I get home from work at 1AM Eastern US time and have tried multiple times for a couple hours to access the MOG Station site to transfer characters and receive a message in 4 languages stating "The service is currently unavailable due to maintenance. Please try again at a later time.".

Now I know that SE said there would be a five day grace period for transferring characters, and I hope they get their $hit together for those of us that have purchased their game and gave them good hard earned money. However I myself am nervous.

If I am not able to transfer my main character over to a highly populated server with said promised free server transfers, I will definitely rethink the future of subscribing to this game. Granted I know that SE does not want to overload their servers, but honestly this is something they need to consider. Offering free transfers with pre-determined rules and requirements was smart, but these rules and requirements need to be followed through no matter what said server population is. If restrictions were made to players requesting transfers to populated worlds in the beginning, this would not be much of a problem.

Anyway, I hope that myself and others will be able to take advantage of the free server transfers offered by Square Enix. I'll be crossing my fingers in the next couple days and hoping that these issues will be ironed out.
