    Presence of Mind and Spell Speed

    Hi all,

    As White Mages are considered reactive healers (you get smacked, you get healed) as opposed to our scholarly brethren proactive healing (I shield you, you get smacked for less damage), it may behoove White Mages to stack as much Spell Speed as possible, for "faster" reaction time, due to lower cast time.

    Now on to the main topic, Presence of Mind is a skill that DOUBLES your spell speed for 10 seconds, but is rendered pretty much useless due to the hefty 5 minute CD. Personally I feel that this skill needs to be tweaked, maybe making it perform similar to how Divine Seal is now (15 sec duration, 1 min CD, 25% uptime). If this skill is tweaked, then stacking spell speed as a White Mage, might actually be the most beneficial out of all secondary stats.

    I would like to hear fellow White Mages opinions on the below points:
    1) Should Presence of Mind be tweaked?
    2) Is it worth stacking Spell Speed NOW?

    The only tweak PoM needs is a reduction on its cool down, maybe bring it down to about a 2 minute recast? It gives you .33 off of your cast time/gcd. That's actually pretty decent considering it takes 10 spell speed for .01 cast/gcd reduction. It's much stronger than what SCH can get from Selene since what she actually does is give you 30% of your spell speed stat.

    Making it equal to Divine Seals dura/recast might make it too strong, point of spell is to get you through an oh shit moment.

    It doesn't actually reduce a flat 0.33 second from your GCD, its just that since everybody's spell speed is pretty similar due to not much gear variety yet, when the spell speed is doubled, probably most of the White Mages will experience the 0.33 second reduction.

    If someone is able to stack Spell Speed to a respectable amount, the reduction from PoM might be a lot higher than the 0.33 second reduction.

    All my gear equipped, I get a .33 reduction, half my gear equipped I get a .33 reduction, all my gear unequipped I get a .33 reduction... I'm pretty sure it is not a scaling spell, just a flat .33 reduction. I could be wrong, someone with obscene SS prove me wrong with screen shots or something but till then it is a .33 reduction.

    .33 is actually quite a bit because as I said, 10 spell speed is .01 reduction. It would be several tiers or even an expansion from now before they would need to mess with it tbh. Actually I don't think they would mess with it at all until the SCH buff from Selene matches it and you would need over 1k spell speed for Selene's buff to match PoM. Tho, I still feel they ought to drop the cd to at least 2 minutes.

    Thanks for the clarification!! If it is indeed a flat reduction and not scaled, then I guess stacking Spell Speed as White Mage won't provide additional benefits as compared to other classes/jobs =\

    The CD is fine for me, since most case if I need to quickly do some heals, a swiftcast would do the job very well.
    I just hope it has a longer duration, especially its own skill animation will take 2 seconds off the 10 seconds duration, so it can only last for like 3 Cure spells, which is not a lot...also given that you can't usually stand at one spot for 10 seconds during a BOSS fight.

    The problem with swiftcast is that it takes away the cast time, but not the re cast time. You swiftcast a cure 2, you still have to wait 2 seconds to start cast another cure. All swiftcasting a heal does is give you one cure immediately, and then one in 4 seconds while you could just get one every 2 seconds instead.
