I wish Ifrit was better but sadly he isn't. There should be more benefits to using ifrit vs garuda i.e. Ifrit should hit harder but require more micro manage.

Yeah I think the OP is referring to people who have the other Egi's beyond Ifrit. If you only have Carby and Ifrit they will prob tell you to use Ifrit if you ask. I was asked to use ifrit but it was when I only had Carby, had just unlocked Ifrit and had yet to try it so I had no UI/Macro set up. So in our case it would be comparing Ifrit to Carby because we don't have any others.

Also, conclusive testing shows Ifrit has a lower base hitcap, requiring up to 460-ish acc for it to not miss attacks; garuda doesn't miss at base 341.
Don't believe me? Try it yourself!![]()

Umm, I'm almost completely positive I've parsed Garuda-Egi missing in Coil. Given that whatever acc the SMN had was >341, I'd say Garuda needs acc.
You lost me when you said "spam ruin II" don't believe people still do that ...
The worst part is when you get in a group with another summoner, ask them to switch to Garuda and xplain why, and watch them ignore you and keep Ifrit on the target, and not even on obey so he doesn't waste GCDs on his other crappy skills instead of autoattacking.
I have never remembered ifrit is stronger than garuda.
we fight ifrit and then garuda. Same goes for Hard mode. So I guess that's common sense.
im proud of the fact i have never summoned Ifrit once i knew he was terrible once i saw him and his move set and besides carby was waaaaay better.
I do it.
Especially on turn 4 after you bane your DoTs to both knights and must focus the soldiers down, and especially on the strict DPS check of the dreadnought right after. During regular dungeon runs there is no real reason NOT to spam ruin II (in the break between setting your Dots and waiting on a new Aetherflow stack) unless you are already somehow getting low on MP. Of course, you spam it less depending on MP and other CD's / Pet CD's coming up, but not using it at all...is...well...worse DPS for no reason.
What I meant was I was able to see that there were certain minimum and maximum numbers for damage, early in my tests. This early observation was confirmed by the end of my hour or so of testing, along with all the other things I mentioned in the OP. I said this mainly because some people that had told me to use Ifrit claimed they had tested things for upwards of several hours (one claimed "seven hours" of testing!), and I was trying to make a point that it doesn't take a large amount of time to see that Ifrit sucks.
