Anyone else praying Samurai or DK are DPS?

We need a sword DPS already. Only reason I even Tank is because I hate the gameplay mechanics of the DPS at this stage in the game of always having to be at the side or the back of an enemy to do any kind of decent damage. Would love Dark Knight to be a sort of Middle ground Thaumaturge/Gladiator Job where you damage increases similar to the way Thaumaturges and BLM boost damage and mp regen(only DK would regen TP and MP at a lower interval.)

Samurai could be mainly a frontal assault DPS where the more damage you take the more damage you can deal. With skills that add sorts of HP regen and mitigate the ammount of damage necessary to increase the damage you do. Samurai should also have a lot of DoT effects since Katanas by their nature cause wounds that bleed profusely their focus could also be crippling debilitation of the enemy such as being able to decrease an enemies resistances to being stunned and paralized by using skills that DoT while nerfing the enemy resistances. Samurai would be exclusively middle or light armor while DK could use Heavy armor but not have the Defence increase that a Paladin would or a Warrior.

I really hope Samurai is a DPS class, or if they're a tank make the Parivir from FFTA as a second Job that does DPS.

DK should be a DPS/Debuffer, and maybe have some HP/MP/TP absorb skills.
SMR should be an off-tank/buffer, with a lot of parry and evade skills, auto-attack self buff and AoE support for diferent roles (DPS-healer-Tank). It would be also great that they have a set of skills depending on what katana they are using.

i really see the samurai a dps, using the skill-chain from FF11 as main system, it can be pretty nice if well done.

for the one that don't know the skill chain of final fantasy 11: you do a skill, someone else do another skill, bonus effect like an explosion of fire.
in the case of the samurai for final fantasy 14: you do a vertical slash, followed by an horizontal slash, giving a bonus cross slash attack.
instead to add combo, they add a technic that can be used for make more complex bonus attack
as your level up you get a trait allowing you to do 2-3-4 skill chain.

for the dk, i see a tank crippling the target, using dark magic for shroud him in darkness and reduce the chance to be hit. he will be able to steal stat from the monster and increase hi own stats.

Samurai better be a dps class, and not a tank. I don't mind how they plan to implement Sam, cause it's obviously not going to be a WS class like it was in XI, considering everyone can use constant WS now lol. I just hope it's interesting.

I'm okay with DK being a DPS.

However I very much want Samurai to be a tank. Their armor and fighting style would make tanking pretty and less barbaric than it is now. That or Dancer or Ninja tanks. One of the three I hope make the cut for the tank role. I want the tank role to be more open than just a bunch of heavy armored hardcore brutes. Katana's are pretty graceful and deadly weapons, it's slashes are powerful and elegant. I feel that visual diversity is what the tank role needs.

Pick one, DK as a DPS, or Samurai DPS, but I wouldn't never say both.

the samurai are by definition a warrior that have only one goal, eleminate the enemy of him daimyo.

the idea of a Dark Knight be a tank feel way better actually, by using dark power they can open way more interesting.

This is FF, and in FF samurai are by definition sellswords with one goal, to release the spirits within their katana.
