DPS calculation for dungeons

DPS meters and parsers are not against the rules.

They are not, themselves, a plague on the community.

Like any other tool, DPS meters can be used for right, or for wrong.

It is a legitimate use of them to point out people who have lower DPS than they should have. It is not a crime. To make martyrs of them is ridiculous-- if they are performing poorly, they NEED TO KNOW in order to improve themselves. Maybe their rotation is bad, maybe they don't even have one. Maybe they're using the wrong skills altogether.

Either way, DPS meters have good uses, and you should strongly consider that if your DPS is lower than everyone else's, with equal gear, the issue is probably on your end, and you should be trying to improve that, not try to start a pity party on the forums to try and say DPS meters are bad and should not be used (which is what it sounds like happened).

As with most users of parsers, they usually have no idea how to interpret the information they're looking at.

It's not a case of "So-and-so is doing low dps/hps/is dying", but that of "Why is so-and-so doing low dps/hps/is dying".

On the other hand, I will not play AK with anyone that does not at least make the effort to upgrade their gear to lvl 50 starters. How hard is it to buy a level 50 weapon from GC...

I wonder if you have forgotten that in order to GET the level 50 GC weapon, you have to COMPLETE AK FIRST.

also, speed run isnt the best idea if you have someone in the team who doesnt know how to do speed run, it will end up longer lol

Not anymore. It's AV now. Also, you don't need the Lieutenant Weapon for AK, Sergeant's is plenty. But many don't even do that. OR go to WP, and try for DL weapons which are on par with Lt.

We all had to do AK with Welfare AF gear and 44 GC weapons. You didn't START geared yourselves. Remember that.

Anyone who complains about people geared equivilant to this in the Duty Finder for AK/WP/Ifrit needs to really grow up. You REQUIRE people to get fully decked in Full ilvl60+? Well make a party before you enter the dungeon then? I don't see the problem here.

When i run a dungeon i just want to get it done and move on i don't really want to stop for 10 minutes while people argue about who's is bigger and crying because i don't just heal them through all AoE damage because they don't want to dodge and stop their precious DPS.

This is a very true statement. Me personally I would say I fit somewhere in the middle. But generally it seems like there is only 2 sides of this coin.

There is nothing inherently wrong with DPS meters (although keep in mind that SMN should not be checked here, since there are no good ways to get their numbers). I use it to judge DPS based on their gear. If you are full DL but pulling under 100 dps (I have seen it) then there is something wrong here. If we are getting through the content I don't really care what the DPS is at, because as a group we met the minimum, but if you are dying because you aren't DPS'ing fast enough then adjustments have to be made.

There are only 2 classes that should ever be caught standing in the stupid, BLM and SMN. Everyone else, with their instant casts should be able to constantly move (I suppose there is that one DRG ability that locks you until the animation finishes, but still). Besides that, I pride myself on being the highest DPS AND taking the least amount of damage. Was running Titan with two other BLM, both of which had one or two drops from Coil (me I am just full DL/Relic+1), so they had slightly better gear than me, yet I was consistantly pulling 10 or more DPS higher than the both of them. And of course with it being Titan, if you stand in the stupid you are going to wipe the group, so you know I wasn't doing that.

Anyway, I say this to point out that there are good places for the meters. I can't wait until addons are supported and we can capture all the data correctly to get things for the SMN DPS calculated.

I have never played WoW before and I dont know what is it like there,
but one thing i do know is that, as a legacy player with few classes lv50,
we should know how hard it is to find a group (especially DPS classes) for dungeons.

Not everyone is a hardcore player here and have 5-8hrs per day after work to play the game,
some of the players have been fighting Ifrit HM for the weapon but it doesnt drop :/

but it doesnt mean that they cant do AK, Garuda, Titan.
I disagree with "gear check" for Ifrit and Garuda battles, Titan can be done with GC/AK gears as well.
(i have done all Ifrit, Garuda, Titan with AK gear, same for my team as well)

the only Gear/Skill/Dps check is only for Coil of Bahamut at the current stage.
(Still, if you farm myth points enough, you can get your AF2 with similar stats)


and not to mention that DPS calculator is a 3rd party tool, we shouldnt even use it in the first place.

you have answer yourself already. if you are a casual play that only play on average 1-2 hours per day, then why do you expect yourself ready at titan?
i play average 4 hours per day , and i spent 2 weeks get my garuda weapon , 2 months to get full dl gear to be ready for titan

being casual and being lazy is two different thing mmkay?

when you are geared (full dl + garuda titan) , it makes titan fight much easier assuming that you know the fight.so why not ? why rush to get relic with ak or even af1?
you dont die to plume doesnt meet you contribute to the dps pool.

think of the whole party into your consideration.
