As far as if he gets better... not really. He can tank NOTHING with two of the tank attack nodes, two str nodes, and two crit nodes. Not even tanking auto attacks. His damage is OK with crits around 200. His healing is unstoppable. He crits Choco Cure for 650+ and regen is 45+ a tick. That being said, he is a hybrid and I did not get the top skill in any tree. It's possible that that skill alone is OP for any tree.

Not really. I keep him in free stance and he does all roles

That is not excatly how the companion system works - the passive/actives he gains is based on the specific stance he is in - unless you are in defender or attacker all those crit bonuses are pretty much in active sorry to break it to you :/

I like how they tell you none of this and instead let you stumble around for countless hours until you decide to run the numbers yourself. And I REALLY like how they don't tell you that the split second you put a point into a chocobo tree you can never reach rank 10 with any other spec.

I spent a while grinding him to 4 and all points are in defender. He can't pull aggro when I auto attack but I don't want a gimped hybrid if they do change it later.


Actually if they do change it later it will probably be like gathering. It will become trivial to grind him to r10 in one day and those who did the crazy grind don't even get a consolation prize.

I still hope that we can also train the chocobos we raise ourself so we can have different chocobos with different specs.

I haven't even leveled mine yet. Doesn't your job need to be below 50 so you can get xp for the choco to level?

Congrats! I've been sitting in Rank 5 for a while now.. Might go grind out rank 6, mine is hybrid also, and need rank 6 for Chococure.
