The reason Red/Green colorblindness and even total colorblindness don't work well with game systems is because the two colors typically have the same values. Take away color, and the two lines appear the same. This is how people with RG colorblindess see it. If the Green line is changed to Blue, the value of the line lightens, making the two lines much more distinct even with total colorblindness. This isn't a minor issue, but the proportion of the human population with even partial to total colorblindness is less than 10%, such that the impact of a change for such a small segment seems non-viable. I am not familiar with statistics on gamers with partial to total colorblindness, but it is enough that many large gaming franchises DO incorporate such features, that they recognize the problems.

Which is odd. Sexism is more rampant in gaming than colorblind-safe features, but that may also be due to the fact that colorblindness is much, MUCH more common in males than females, so the impact of male to female players is more felt. Only recent accommodation to female gamers stresses any concern.
