I was wondering who here is waiting for the DRK. It was literately MY class in FFXI, and was more than a little surprised that it wasn't in the launch release with the paladin as a balancing force.
So who are the dark knights in hiding around us waiting?
P.S. I am hearing the occasional person saying "DRK is going to be a tank." and I have to say this is not true in the slightest. Please look at the history of the Dark Knight before jumping to such a conclusion.
P.P.S. Since people still have this wierd conclusion that a dark knight should be a tank by previous examplease I will now go in to each listed example in the wiki and support or disprove my statement (as I am trying to be UN-bias) as the DRK being a damage dealer (DPS) in concpet.

2 points the class focuses on damage. 1 point to not, class was also called Magic Knight and could cast white magic spells in some incarnations of the game.Originally Posted by FF-wiki "Final Fantasy III"
1 point the DRK class differs primerially on that while a DRK Cecil can kill an opponent instantly. This was not noted about the PLD role. However his apperent more useful and epic equipment was while a PLD, which is more of a plot point that a proper gauge of the nature of the class.Originally Posted by FF-wiki "Final Fantasy IV"
1 Point Dark Knight as a damage dealer as the straight up thing the DRK did was drop them to near death. It did not make it self some sort of weird evil tank. If it was supposed to be a tank, I would have made it so that it drained as much health as it was dealt by any means. The only way to kill it would be to cast cure spells at it (Just my thought).Originally Posted by FF-wiki "Final Fantasy IV The After Years"
2 Point Tank. The class can not move as well as others, but has a tone of defensive abilities and can drain others hitpoints to replenish its own among other things. I gave it an additional point for setting a president.Originally Posted by FF Wiki X-2
3/4 Points to damage dealer DRK. 1 point to tankOriginally Posted by FF Wiki XI
4 Points to DPS, 1 point to As a tank total. Lots of small points toward tank here however the actual class description and class focus due to attack rate and base HP should be an obvious point to role with things like shields and armor being clearly esthetic choice, and not role specific in this game which could also be countered equally by the weapon selection. I gave the point to the NPC classes version of this class is more of a tank, however we are not looking at a NPC use of the class here.Originally Posted by FF Wiki Tactics/WOL
At this point I think the only people I see who think the DRK should be a tank are those who: loved X-2, used the exploit nitch in XI to make the DRK tank, IV fans that think Cecil was tough (Sure he was tough, he was the main character, and had to survive on his own at times; however DRK's side was damage dealing focused), and trolls. Another group would be damage dealers who don't want more competition for DF ques.
