    Let's Talk : GRAPHICS

    Hello there fellow Forum Community.

    I wanted to post this a long time ago, now i have the time to do it. I want to talk with you about the Game's graphics.

    We all know that 1.XX had better Textures, Animation as well as certain little things as "Actually seeing your equipped Belt". Even though the latter was taken out for other reasons (being that it would limit the Design Team - HELL WHAT ?) most of it was done because the PS3 is lacking in terms of Hardware.

    I don't want to bash PS3 it's ok and nice and i think it is a very good idea to bring the game out for PC and PS3 and i can understand the downgrading and design choices.

    Before you get at me with "dude calm the f down we're getting dx11 next year" i know that this is true.

    What rustles my jimmies is the Fact that we don't know what it will be like or if we get better textures and i can't see SE getting us better Animations !

    There is few to no responses in term to the overall Graphics quality of the game. My BIG question is as follows :

    WHY didn't you put up TWO Clients for YOUR Game SE ?

    One beeing the version we are playing with pc as well as ps3.
    The second beeing a "premium" client with all the juicy stuff in there.

    It would work the same way as EVE Online did it with their normal and premium graphics client. Well now i really HOPE that this will be the case with the release of the PS4 version as well as the release of the DX11 patch but as i have said before i can't see us getting higher texture resolutions and as far as i know there is no response from the devs about it.

    Don't get me wrong will ya ? I love the Game and the Beautiful Graphics but i want more, especially for my Character ! Even though i can live without Belts (but i'd still love them) i atleast wish there were better quality textures overall and better and especially MORE animations !

    Edith says : Oh and i would love different Cutscenes atleast the old ones. I just Loved it to watch them and start a New Character it was much more immersive... i wish there would be some kind of "Vanilla" servers where the latest Game version from the old Final Fantasy would run without ARR.

    What are your thoughts on it ?

    I don't say it does i just want there to be a way to get more juicy for PC and PS4 (if the Graphic would stay the same on that System... I'd lose my faith)

    Oh so true ! I actually liked 1.0 battle and gathering system ! And yea the upgrade does make up for it but we could actually get much more for our losses. And i don't want to turn this into a second thread of which we all know about. But Butt sliders... man I'd like some.

    While I understand your sentiment, there are good reasons why CCP stopped with the whole dual client thing - it simply costed too much, both financially and in terms of developmental and support resources to make it worthwile.
    My fault didn't think too much about the costs but i understand this point of view. BUT As far as the upper quote implies it will be done either way.

    1.0 did not have better textures all around. There are actually more terrain details in 2.0 that were not in 1.0, especially around vertain walls. 1.0 didn't have the complexity in the environment and was a bit more simple.

    Character detail has been reduced. MMO's have to balance it due to data usage.

    Having two clients in an interesting idea, though I doubt it would be cost possible. I do miss seeing my belt, but I will disagree on the character textures. I feel that there is more detail over all in the armor than there was in 1.0.

    Simply;

    1.0 had better textures overall, but used a beastly amount of resources to run which was its big downfall.

    2.0 is optimised to run on a standard set of computers, this way more people can access the game, unlike its predecessor.
    Each un-necessary area was compressed or 'reduced' if it wasn't seen often or never seen in great detail, to afford more breathing room for development.

    It's as simple as that, the developers decided it was best to have a game everyone could access and THEN build ontop of and adjust the graphics afterwards for PC's more capable with a seperate DX11 client.

    It's planned for release February 2014, along with the PS4 'testing phase' for FFXIV:ARR.

    It was VERY easy to find this information on all the various interviews Yoshi-P has discussed this about.

    Edit to your Edit : Thanks for the Links but as far as i can see he only admits Direct X 11 and a new Client (probably). I still don't see for a Fact that we get e.g. better Animation or Texture quality. Just because you are right does not mean they do every bit they can with this new techonology (happened in other games as well). It is like upgrading an engine and using none of the upgrades. And i fear that they'll do something like this.
