    ITT some people who have no idea how graphics work in in dynamic worlds versus static worlds, and why MMOs will ALWAYS be one step behind single-player games when it comes to visual polish.

    ITT other people who do and can see just how stunning the world is given the handicap that it's an MMO.

    I really don't think it's close to WoW. I think the old system was closer to the WoW style of combat tbh; auto-attack, select skill, repeat...FF11/14 was just a lot slower (and I mean a lot! lol). This new combat system reminds me more of GW2.

    This one was pretty good I think. @ 10min 20sec notice how an item is given and received. Best part of the cs starts around 5min 15sec.

    2.0 Cutscene animation speed looks like it's moving at 1.5 to 2.0 times the normal speed.

    1.0 and 1.23 had different battle systems. 1.0 cnj had all the elemental magic and thm did not play the same in 1.0 and 1.23. The cutscenes were drastcially better in 1.0, the new team did the GC cutscenes in 1.?? which werent anywhere near as good as the cutscenes from the main scenario, which was made by the old team. I miss not zoning, especially in towns. the battle system in 1.0 was awful but in 1.23 it was actually fun and challenging, ARR feels like you have your hand held and you can mess up a lot with minor consequences, unlike 1.23 were if everyone wasnt doing their best, then you were gonna fail. The graphics had a level of detail thats missing in arr, but arr does have some great looking locations. Gelmorra ruins were awesome in 1.23 and coerthas and mor dhora were MUCH bigger in 1.23. What happened to all those giant lakes in coerthas and those cool rivers with little bridges made from rock, where are the giant bridges with the waterfalls falling down the side? we should at least have frozen versions of those missing coerthas landmarks ...
    Still, having a blast in ARR, but I do miss 1.23, it was a great online RPG and its a shame it has such a bad reputation, 1.23 doesnt deserve it.

    I had a Radeon HD 5770 when the game launched. I still can't tell the difference because of how god awful 1.0 was and how I bleached my brain of the memories.

    Legacy players, can you describe 1.0's UI? I've heard reports on how god awful it was, but why was it so bad? from screenshots the basic concept seemed fairly similar to XI

    It was fairly similar to XI (largely menu based) and that was the problem... Many things which could have been achieved with a simple right click function (like opening doors, interacting with the environment, etc) required openin the menu really breaking flow. (For example now you can sit in chairs by just typing /sit, in 1.0 if you typed /sit you'd sit on top of the chair, to sit IN the chair you had to open the main menu and select the sit icon in the context menu) Add on top of the clunkyness of the UI it was also horribly laggy. Things were buried in sub menu and the whole thing was a fairly unintuitive mess in places. It felt like a menu designed for use with a console and never intended for a PC

    idk as a controller user i would take the "clunky" 1.0 controller setup again in an instant over the current.
