Location Greece - Constant Lag

Hello,
yesterday i was so ashamed that i'm very close to quit the game as i'm to a deadend.

I live in Greece and i play more games than FFXIV.
All games i play my ping and latency is normal, i never had issues.

But yesterday i went to COIL with some friends and i had to silence Ads.
You cannot imagine how much lag i had during the fight. Sometimes i even freeze for 2-3 seconds and then i see things running and of course either i'm into aoe or missed my silence.

We stayed there for 1 hour and i was so ashamed that my lag was missing most of the AOE that i needed to dodge or my silence.

Suddently someone asked me how is my connection with Canada. So this is the moment that i found out that all servers are hosted in Canada even they state RAGNAROK EU LEGACY. If that is true - indeed i know GREECE->CANADA connection is not the best.

So some questions :
1. Is there really anything i can do to improve my lag spikes, so game is playable again? It's bad to see everything delayed and not being able to do your duty in time.
2. Is there actually any server hosted in Europe? I dont mind moving to another shard as long it's hosted in Europe and i dont have those lag spikes.
3. I was told to minimzie my graphics settings. I can imagine this will improve my FPS but i dont understand how is going to make better my lag. I did it anyway and joined a test Ifrit run so i could interrupt. Again i missed 2 interrupts of Eruption from the whole fight cuz of lag.

PS. Please dont ask me if i have a connection problem or downloading or youtubing. I'm very good aware and i dont have any other activity that is sucking my internet bandwidth when i play.

Many people even in the US area have problems it seems. Myself included and I live in Sweden. Some others around Scandinavia / Europe have the exact problems as you.
I've been booted also cause my heals could not land fast enough or I died to AOE damaging spells even if my screen show clearly outside.

For your quick questions I will answer the best I can.. I'm not an expert :P

1: It depends, some people tried to download a program (wich I forgot the name of) that helps you with traffic i think? , Some said it worked and some said it did'nt. Look in the Tech and LAG/Throttling threads and you will see the program.

2: No. I'm afraid not. All NA / EU servers is hosted in Montreal, Canada. Not a single server in EU region and I remember there was some kind of petition around but can't find it now.

3: Sometimes by lowering a graphic it could actually make less lag but that's on your computer. Not your connection. I believe you have a monster PC etc and probably half good Internet.
Many people talk about fixing router things but I'm afraid with so many people that have problems that is not your fault but on Square Enix side.

PS; You should be fine streaming music / videos etc even while playing , though it is not recommended but you can certainly do Most online games use very little internet

I live in Greece too and I have no lag problems. Did you try Laetrix latency fix?

May i ask something to be clear?
I suppose i have lag - because of the following : i see for example ifrit casting eruption, and i press my interupt/stun button. I see his cast bar being canceled/disssapeared with delay and not the time i press my button.

Is that a sign of lag or thats how it supposed to be ?

Well, If you'r interuped/stun is instant cast, then it should register immedietly or maybe with 0.3 sec delay . Apperantly it is not for you then it is lag / latency issue. Here is a perfect example

Though, I sometimes jump to make my char not cast and it is still casting , so hard to say if that little is animation lag or similar but you have the same problem with the guy in video above

Simos and Mavlok i am from Greece too, Athens to be more precise, the only way to play the game properly without lag is to use tunneling software. Google WTFast and download the 30 day trial. This made the game playable for me and my friends again.

Thank you all for your advice. It seems exactly whats happening to this video is my daily playtime.
I'll try the software you suggested and get back to report if it helped or not.
BTW since some Greeks replied, i live in Athens and i'm using FORTHNET.

Here from Geece also. My problem is not the latency lag but the constant lagspikes. Every other Greek guy in my fc has the lagspike problem (different ISPs).
