Yeah looking at strategies and what our leader says. He said we should never get double dreadnaughts in the first place. That just means dps are a tad slow. If PLD's didn't have all those CD's they wouldn't be able to tank 2 either.
Almost entirely sure the bugs don't have 100% damage buff to the Dnaught. Double Dnaught gibs our Pally, single x4 Dnaught never does.
We also went the 2x Soldier, 2x Knight, 1Dnaught route. Either way you go one tank is going to be taking a lot of damage. Personally, I'd put the Warrior on the single Dnaught if you go that way. Or you can try to kite the 2x Solider, 2x Knight combo. Either way, you're better having the pally do those things IMO. Regardless, in these super-high incoming damage situations a PLD can sit there and tank for as long as there is CD's, a Warrior just splats if he doesn't attempt to kite.
We have more issues w/ the Single gibbing then the the double gibbing the tank. Our typical issue is an add breaking loose or not getting picked up and taking out a healer.
Turn 2 ADS's Chain Lightning can OHKO me from nearly full health if it crits. My squishyness as WAR tank in Coil is beyond ridiculous, Caduceus is doable but the amount of rage I feel when I get instantly killed by CL. You must have the most amazing healers on Earth to find Turn 2 ADS "easy" to tank as WAR.
Our group doesn't deal with chain lightening. We take allagan rot, gravity field and ballast. As the gravity field is way easier to deal with than lightening.
Isn't the crafted HQ iLvl 70 weapon and armor with materia pretty good? Looking at the stats they seem to rival the iLvl 80-90 stuff.
No, it is not. Weapon is useless compared to ilvl80 relic, and is stomped even worse by ilvl90 relic+1. Armor is comparable to Darklight, with potentially better secondary stats with heavy overmelding. It is not comparable to ilvl90 AF+1 or Allagan equipment.
It's been beaten to death but I think it bares repeating. If your warrior tanking in coil, you are only putting more strain on your other tank and healers. PLD is just better at it.
I have yet to see a coil boss that is easier with a war than a PLD. The final phase of turn 4 is nearly impossible without 2 PLDs. One of the adds you tank as a warrior does not build wrath charges. If you don't have a bunch of melee dps to pop the knights to reduce incoming dps, it may just be impossible without luck/kiting. If you run 3/4 physical dps, you can try it but it would still be easier with 2 PLDs tanking.
I watched 2/8 of my FC's paladins plow through turn 1-4 in a hour. Yea...I'm not sure what to think of coil now.
