I get the FATE nerf, but then please buff dungeon XP

I mean I understand the FATE nerfs, that's great, that's fine, but if you want people to do dungeons, we need more XP from them. The time it takes to do dungeons with the XP you get isn't very time worthy.

Example: Fate in N.Thanalan gives 15k, even with the nerf you can stand around ~10 mins and get 15k.
TO get 15k in a dungeon requires almost a full dungeon clear which can take up to an hour.

No because it would be a smart thing to buff them

    Actually... you may reconsider

I think dungeons are just fine - I actually feel like I get more EXP and drops in a dungeon than doing fates. I miss out on seals but that's it.

Yesterday was going through Aurum with friends and was getting about 1700 - 2200 EXP per each kill.

and when we're going through rooms with 5-12 enemies that's about 15k at LEAST a room - It doesn't seem bad to me at all.

Aurum isn't level 41 first off. At level 47 the fates in N.Thanalan gives 25k per, 38k for DD + the big boss.

Aurum with a pug group takes about 1hr. In 1hr in Thanalan I just clocked myself @ level 42 with 5 fates. DD + Big Boss one gave me a total of 64k XP + their deaths which was another 10k. The other Fate's inbetween were 15,689XP x 3. So in 1 hour I got about 111, 067 XP where in AV you got what? Less than that in an hour? Yeah that's totally working right...

As a general rule of game design, more options > less options. This became a huge issue for Diablo 3 fans when Blizzard decided for them that boss runs weren't an acceptable way to farm loot. Blizzard nerfed this, ignoring the outcry from fans who really, really wanted the option of doing boss runs. (The game had other issues, but this was among them.) Why couldn't Blizzard have given players who didn't want to farm bosses alternatives to doing so for loot, while allowing those with the tolerance for repetition to continue to? There really isn't a good enough excuse for the decision they made.

How does this relate to FFXIV? I'm among the players who would really like the option of XPing in dungeons, or even by setting up parties and farming overleveled mobs (as we did in FFXI). I miss these options and I feel that it actually hurts the game not to have included them at all. More options > less options, and I feel very much like I'm going to be forced to grind FATEs on all of my future DoW classes now that I've hit DRG50 and finished the story line. That's wrong, plainly and simply; it just doesn't need to be that way.

I'm all for virtually anything that opens the game up a bit and enables alternative (legitimate) pathways to success. Let us farm high level mobs for XP; let us run dungeons for levels the same way we do it for relics; but if FATEs are going to be our only real option for subsequent level 50 classes, don't nerf FATEs. That's just ridiculous!

That's what I'm saying. If you are gonna nerf FATE's then you need to boost XP in dungeons or else you have a ton of people standing around doing nothing because not everyone wants to spend 3x the amount of time leveling through dungeons "just cuz".

People are getting top levels in classes too fast. I say nerf everything's exp output (again in fates case) so that people can actually enjoy their levels, equipment, and even the entire game longer!

Bloodclaw, you're sort of missing an important point here: lots of people don't find FATE grinding to be fun. You're basically riding from area to area to engage in (typically) two-minute AoE spam festivals against trash mobs before riding back to town to watch for the next spawn. I'd argue that one of the reasons people are grinding them to 50 so quickly is because they're a boring chore, and frankly, we want to get it over with as quickly as possible. Dungeons are a MUCH better training ground for learning skill rotations and figuring out the mechanics of your job. They offer better boss fights, varying fight mechanics that train you in situational awareness, and respectable loot as a reward. What they don't do is pay out nearly enough experience.

Nerfing "everything" is a stupid way to fix what isn't even necessarily a problem to begin with. People should be free to level as quickly as they'd prefer to, although some will end up sucking at their jobs because they never took the time to learn how to do much more than spam the same two attacks in FATEs. But you can't force people to care, or even to play well.

I could care less about the Dark Devices nerf since I never actually did the FATE, but I think dungeon xp needs to be boosted regardless. There needs to be more incentive to run dungeons. Queues for the non-50 dungeons are long if you're not a tank or healer due to people not queuing up due to FATEs being faceroll easy and offer the best xp/hr.
