Lalafell names curiousity....

I read the lalafell naming conventions. I usually go for something with meaning but the ffxiv generator doesn't, obviously. I just would not be comfortable with what it generates. So I'm wondering if there are any other guidelines for choosing a name with meaning instead? While I'm no roleplayer as such I do like a name to fit so to speak.

I guess you could always go with an alias type of name if that's what you mean. Like the Stabbing Weasel or the Black Turnip. There are examples of character aliases like that in the main story. Immersion wise it's better with real names though, since it can get a bit silly with split up aliases in the dialogue, e.g. "Stabbing my friend! How are you?" or with titles, e.g. Black of the White, Black of the Black or Captain Turnip (which might be a bit awesome come to think of it).

The lore forum has a post on naming conventions for each race. Roegadyn Seawolves are the only ones with names that actually MEAN things though.

Lalafell names seem to rhyme, like Bango Zhango and Poppito Poppato or whatever his name is.

From the NPC's I've come across the last names are usually the last 4 letters of the first name. Pupino pino, Lululi luli. Lame if you ask me.

Going by lore, naming is:

Plains - M uses AB CB, F is ABB AB
Dune - M uses AAB CCB, F is AAB AB

Of course there are massive numbers of people who just use whatever name they want.
Maybe pick name, modify it to fit naming convention. I do megaman names, usually Forte, so I made it Fhorte to fit Mi'qote naming.
