It really doesn't need to be something that lasts through death. Do you (generally speaking) die a lot in this game? Probably more than most other MMOs. Does food provide a significant advantage? Not really. It helps but is far from necessary in most situations. If you're part of a raid team, there's typically someone who is looking out for the group in terms of being prepared. They probably bothered to level CUL to 50. If not, someone (maybe you, the reader) should take the initiative. This is assuming you'd rather not spend the gil on the boards to buy it.

Given that food isn't important/dire in most situations, it's already a point against the craft. Why would anyone bother if all you need is a stack to last you well over several months? Market becomes flooded with lack of sales, prices go down, and while it's a win for the consumer, it's a significant hit to the crafter. You know, the people who bother to make the food you seek.
