Lvl 40+ leves give food as well. But really hate to eat food again when you die.

I just don't understand why people rush to defend this game when someone just makes a suggestion on an improvement they think might help make it better.. I agree.. food should last longer and persist through death.. id ever be ok with it not lasting longer but persisting through death is something that should be changed.
"If you will it, Dude, it is no dream." ~ Walter Sobchak
Somehow I'd imagine food prices going up even higher if crafters knew we'd have the benefit of running stacks for longer periods of time. In fact I'm almost positive prices would inflate even more. But at least we would feel we were getting a better value?
If food persisted through death, I would buy more of it. At the moment I only use food to get some extra vit on the titan hard mode fight. Needless to say, my efforts have thus far, always resulted in failure. So why with the high risk of wasteing money would I buy more food? This idea would definately make food more viable IMO.
It is a known fact that you crap your pants upon death, therefore you lose your food buff.
i support this.
Any explaination about this? Quite poor as an answer
The duration is ok in this way (otherwise food won't sell anymore xD), but if it lasts through death, it's a 30 minutes buff, not a 10 seconds, that's a huge improvement.
Your food is not free, it takes time to craft. Suppose you get 2500 gil from an AK run (35 minutes with a good party), it's around 70gil/minute. crafting ONE pan-fried mahi-mahi for example, requires 1 mahi mahi (can be fished only from 12 pm to 6 pm), 3 fire crystals and 2 water crystals, some other mats that can be done with botanist.
Supposing you buy the mats required for botanist and you craft them into what is required (salt, butter and similar things) it takes you at least 2 minutes, then crystals requires you at least 10-15 minutes, then mahi mahi which requires "only" 10 minutes but requires you to wait 72 minutes if you are after 6 pm.
This also mean you have lv 50 cul, lv 50 fisherman, lv 50 miner all with max gear, probably a lot of hours in this game.
So let's round time to "30" minutes (obviously if you craft more food the others require less time because you can fish multiple mahi mahi, gather more crystals etc). Anyway, the MINIMUM cost of a pan-fried mahi-mahi is 2500 gils + mats and you are not considering ANY cost (repair of 3 equipment, gear, level up of crafting skills)
No, food is not "free".
Money is just a currency for time and demand.
Food provides an advantage equal to having another piece of gear, so yes IT IS a lot.It really doesn't need to be something that lasts through death. Do you (generally speaking) die a lot in this game? Probably more than most other MMOs. Does food provide a significant advantage? Not really. It helps but is far from necessary in most situations. If you're part of a raid team, there's typically someone who is looking out for the group in terms of being prepared. They probably bothered to level CUL to 50. If not, someone (maybe you, the reader) should take the initiative. This is assuming you'd rather not spend the gil on the boards to buy it.
Given that food isn't important/dire in most situations, it's already a point against the craft. Why would anyone bother if all you need is a stack to last you well over several months? Market becomes flooded with lack of sales, prices go down, and while it's a win for the consumer, it's a significant hit to the crafter. You know, the people who bother to make the food you seek.
Provided that you need 3300 HP on titan (don't remember if buffed or not), it's easier to reach it with food.
Lastly, high level fighting foods are not selling at all (or only to people with LOADS of money), the only foods that are selling are crafting foods because you don't die while crafting so they effectively last 30 minutes.
What's the point of a 30 minutes buff if it disappear after 3 seconds =D
And obviously they can't lower required gather time for all materials.
I would like to hear a dev about this anyway, is it possible in some way?
May i remind you guys on that the buffs from food are a few percentage of your current stats. So using star 1-2 foods is not recommended because they do not give their full stat maxes.
