FF14 not exiting properly since update

every time I exit the game since the update, the game doesn't exit.

it just sits there on a black screen, and I have to use the task manager to kill the process.

I got a 5003 authentication error while in the Inn earlier, and it's been black-screening on log out since. Last time I had issues after a forced disconnect/shutdown like that, everything appeared to get fixed after running a chkdsk to scan/fix errors on the drive. Just got done running it, about to log in to see if it is behaving again.

Edit:
Seems to be back to "normal" now after the chkdsk c: /F command was run from an elevated command prompt and I rebooted to let it do it's thing.

Logged in to Start screen, exited to desktop fine.
Logged in and went to Character Select, backed out to Start screen, exited to desktop just fine.
Logged all the way in, went into the Inn at Gridania, flopped on the bed and opted to Log Out, got back to Start Screen, and exited to deskop normally.

Should be noted, I always log out to Start screen and then exit the game from there. Old habit from FFXI as taking the fast shutdown route had a habit of monkeying with my auto-trans... could have been avoided, but I preferred to run that game a certain way. Log out of XIV the same way, just to be on the "safe" side.

Edit 2:
Played for about 2 hours, logged out at Quarry Mill and it went right to desktop again. IDK if SE tweaked something, it was a network stability thing, or the chkdsk that fixed it. That's all I did though on my end. Might want to give it a shot if you are still having trouble exiting cleanly to desktop.

I have the same problem, and the server will ask me to change password after crash. So today, i have already changed password 5 times. >_<

Same issue as well get black screen on exiting the game since last update.

I am also getting a black screen. I have to manually kill the task because it won't close any other way.

I don't get an error message, however.

Edited to Add: This only started after I 90k'd out of a Fate earlier tonight, and then got the 5003 error. Prior to that I had logged in this afternoon and logged out without any issues. But now I get a black screen.
